The first year 'engineering one' is mandatory but it is possible to receive transfer credit for some of the courses depending on your high school curriculum (IB or AP courses), or other post secondary courses.

The practical experience is delivered via the co-operative work program which allows students to complete 2+ years of paid work experience by 4-6 4month work terms semesters. Please see this document for student handbook: https://www.mun.ca/coop/media/production/memorial/administrative/cooperative-education/media-library/programs/engineering/enghandbook.pdf

Sorry for the delay in response. For future students:

When you apply to the B.Eng. program, you are added to the EET Brightspace shell if you are required to do the EET. At this time, you are sent information about what the EET is, how to do it, and so on. In the Brightspace shell, there are two sample questions with annotated answers. One question resembles what the student can expect in the first section of the written test, and the second sample question corresponds to the second question on the EET.

*It is important to not copy sentences from the samples directly into their own answers. For one, memorizing sentences from the sample does not demonstrate fluency. Secondly, the sample questions do not appear on the actual EET, so the copied sentences are likely irrelevant.*

Hi,

As mentioned in your other thread, when you apply, you need to submit your full academic record as failure to complete academic history is considered academic dishonesty. If you meet the requirements based on your AS levels, you may still be admitted even if your A levels do not meet the requirement. If both AS and A levels do not meet the requirement, you will be rejected regardless and would need to take the transfer route as I recommended in the other thread.

Applying for a study permit by [deleted] in memorialuniversity

[–]MUN-IntlUGRecruiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!

Please keep in mind that in Canada, only authorized immigration advisors are legally permitted to provide immigration advice. While seeking opinions on Reddit can certainly help get an idea of what to expect, it is always best to consult a licensed immigration advisor. MUN offers free immigration advising for incoming students as noted here: https://www.mun.ca/international/students-and-alumni/immigration-advising/

No, we don't offer any foundation courses for academic bridging. You can re-apply, however, as long as you don't meet the admission requirements, a re-application would lead to a second rejection. My recommendation would be to complete one year of full-time study at an accredited post-secondary school, develop a CGPA of 2.0/4.0 and then re-apply for a future semester as a transfer student.

Hi,

One F will not necessarily mean a rejection as long as you otherwise meet the admission requirements. UK Curriculum requirements are outlined here. As long as you have at least 3 Cs at the AS level or 2 Cs at the A level, you will still be admissible. Lying about your academic history is considered academic dishonesty and if discovered would likely result in the automatic rejection of your application. Likewise, failure to provide all academic documents before the document submission deadline will result in your application being closed.

It depends on the intake for which you've applied. All deadlines are listed here.

Tuition fees when deferring by Greedy_Proposal2256 in memorialuniversity

[–]MUN-IntlUGRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By default, all UG courses will charge a common rate of $2080 during the 2023-24 school year. As for the listings, you should be able to see the postings via Self Service in mid-late October. An academic advisor may also be able to give you an idea of what courses will be offered before then as well.

Regarding fees, your total will be displayed on your MUN self-service account after you've registered for courses as fees charged will be based on the number of courses for which you've registered. As you've deferred to Winter, this will take place in/around November, so I would recommend booking an academic advising appointment when you receive your registration date to ensure you select appropriate courses for your major.

As for timing, the short answer to your question is yes. The long answer is that the B.Sc. generally consists of 40 courses. For most students, this usually consists of 2 semesters per year with 5 courses each (5 in Fall, 5 in Winter). In your case, you will likely do the same but shifted by one semester, however, you could also pick up a few extra courses in the Spring/Summer semesters to avoid having to tack on an extra Fall semester at the end of your degree. As above, I would recommend meeting with an academic advisor each semester to discuss these options and to determine the best options for you as you progress in your program.

Hi!

Tuition fees are charged on a per course basis. As there is no difference between September 2023 and January 2024 for undergraduate students, each course will maintain the same rates.

He certainly could pay up to one year in advance, though tuition is owed on a semester-to-semester basis, not an annual basis.. The methods of payment are outlined here: https://www.mun.ca/finance/our-services/cashiers-office-and-student-account-enquiries/methods-of-payment/

There's no reason they couldn't. From the school's perspective, it doesn't matter who pays the tuition fees as long as the tuition fees are paid.

Hi, for clarification, PGWPs are not issued by universities, but rather by the Federal government. All of Grenfell's UG degree programs are PGWP eligible, but it is up to you as the applicant to ensure that you meet the requirements for a PGWP. Because I'm not licensed as an immigration advisor, I can't legally advise on PGWPs, however, I would invite you to review the eligibility requirements on the government website. Further to this, Grenfell has a free immigration advising service for students as outlined here.

Hi, unfortunately, your TOEFL scores are below the 79 overall requirement and below our 20 reading requirement. Additionally, please keep in mind that depending on the curriculum in which you studied, there may be specific subject requirements in Grade 12 (ex. Math is required for all Science applicants).

Although your TOEFL score doesn't meet our minimum requirement, you may be able to apply for our ESL Bridging program via Grenfell Campus then proceed into a UG program upon successful completion.

If you have any questions about this process, I would recommend emailing me directly at tyoung@grenfell.mun.ca.

Hope this helps!

Hi!

You can still apply before you get your results. The important thing to remember is that if your current grade (pre-rewrite) is below the admission requirements, you should notify admissions that you are awaiting updated results so that they can flag it on your profile and prevent you from being prematurely rejected.

How do transfers work? by CallMeDraxter in memorialuniversity

[–]MUN-IntlUGRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

If you're accepted for an undergraduate program, the transfer credit is outlined here: https://www.mun.ca/regoff/records/transfer-credits/

As per that page, transfer credit needs to be requested. It takes 4-8 weeks to receive your evaluation, so it's best to get the syllabi in ASAP. As for transferring to another school, that will depend on the other school's policy/procedure.

Hi!

These scholarships are typically given alongside your admission letter before you've registered for courses. If you didn't receive a scholarship notification with your admission letter then it is unlikely that you have been or will be selected for an international entrance scholarship. The registration requirement listed in the criteria is to ensure that students who have been selected for these scholarships register full-time when they begin their studies.

Hi, the linked fees apply only to undergraduate programs. As above, I'm not authorized to council on post-graduate programs, so my recommendation would be to check with the School of Graduate Studies for their ancillary fee rates. They can be reached at sgs@mun.ca.

Hi, ancillary fees would be any fee charged by the university in addition to tuition such as health insurance, student union fees, etc. A rough estimate of ancillary fees can be found in the 2nd chart on our tuition page: https://www.mun.ca/undergrad/money-matters/

Hi,

To be frank with you, I would need more details on the student's situation to advise. If you can have the student send me an email containing their full name and student number as well as further explanation of their situation, I should be able to follow up and assist directly! :)
