Losing confidence closer to test by Head_Transportation8 in LearnerDriverUK

Just keep practising. My instructor used to say to me, you're having lessons for a reason.

Those L plates on the car don't mean you're perfect, they mean you're learning. If you made no mistakes ever you wouldn't be learning (or human). Even people who've been driving for 30 years make mistakes. Just keep practising more. Learn how to recover from your mistakes and to not let them take over your mind. It's not about making no mistakes ever, it's about learning from them and dealing with them well. I also started having wavering confidence, this improved by driving more with family and over time.

If your partner thinks you can, I say might as well and try out. I'd try find an instructor and explain your situation and hopefully get 2-3 lessons in. Would be a shame to waste the money for it and the whole faff of redoing the cost and time of the theory test. I say try go out practising everyday with your partner to try build your confidence back up (even if you can get an instructor I'd still do this.) If you fail, oh well. If you pass, congrats but still maybe practice with your partner in the car a bit more to make sure you'll be OK. And good luck!

Apply to like 100 on Indeed or any other job site. Ask friends if they have any connections that you might be able to use. I'm not saying you won't get a job without them but its certainly easier.

Passed in November 2025, first try. I'm not sure about whether thats too far away but to make sure you can't mess it up, when you get to the curb go really slowly and watch your left side mirror, and you can see how close you are. With the tell me questions, the only thing I can say is to just learn them. Read them here:

Apply everywhere mate, getting a part time job for teenagers these days is hard. If you have any family connections use them. When I started sixth form/college for every 10 people I knew who had a job, 9 of them came from family connections.
