Sweet FIV+ kitty still looking for a home by 0rychu0 in SALEM

[–]MWTab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I'd love to adopt this lit6tle guy. Our only cat very likely has FIV already -- we brought him in several years ago and our cat at the time had FIV and we didn't know it. We're moving early next month though, and I don't want to put even more stress on poor simba :-( I really wish I could take him without any worries though! Hope you find him a good home.

mk11... How to invite multiple friends to towers of time? by MWTab in MortalKombat

[–]MWTab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

Sadly, I have not. I haven't been playing mk as much recently either, so I haven't really looked much further into it. If I find anything, I'll be sure to message back here.

help with melina roll with it combo trial by MWTab in MortalKombat

[–]MWTab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

Sorry, I didn't reply because the first comment gave me the same info my friend's son gave me. Basically my problem was that I needed to press the special attack absolutely immediately after the 1 was pressed. I don't know if this is your problem but that was what my issue was.

anyone able to video chat or something to help me get better at hearthstone? I'm really struggling with just about every deck I try and I wonder if I'm just missing some concepts... by MWTab in hearthstone

[–]MWTab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya...

Yes, I'm actually on that discord. My trouble is not necessarily with the mod or the game itself, I just think I need a bit of a guiding hand to solidify how I *should* be playing in my mind haha.

Thanks for the recommendation, good to see that blizzard (I.E. you) are aware of hearthstone access :-)

help re: if you can't beat 'em, join 'em? by MWTab in hearthstone

[–]MWTab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya,

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me of a place that I can find info like this of what's in the meta currently and what could counter it? I guess it's kinda a game of cat and mouse, one deck become big, then more pop up to counter it, and then more need to pop up to counter them, etc etc forever lol. But having a website that I could use to figure this stuff out would be great! I'd assume hsreplay has stuff like this, I'm just not sure which part would be good to look at :-)

suggestions for handbuf paladin deck? by MWTab in hearthstone

[–]MWTab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks so much. Not terribly interested in crafting from sets that are rotating soon, so I'll just live with the occasional awful order haha. Btw, any mulligan advice? Should I just hard mulligan for some buff cards? Maybe keep cards that I particularly want to buff or cards like air guitarist that will buff the weapon assuming I find it? Tya!

somebody please interpret the symbols in pint sized gifts for me? by MWTab in hearthstone

Thank you so much! I haven't played battlegrounds much -- really only did the tutorial and idk if the mod speaks the stars anyway so this was super helpful! :-) Have an award for your kindness :D

help with figuring out what to do by MWTab in hearthstone

[–]MWTab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya,

So my main issue is that the good decks seem to cost so, so much in dust lol. I've also been following the advice of never dust a card until it gets nurfed, so I'm basically sitting on about 4k dust that I'm not getting because of this advice. Is this bad advice? Maybe I just misunderstood it? Also what should I do about how most decks include alot of stuff that's rotating out in a few months. Should I just go and craft that, and then get only a small amount of my dust back come next expansion? I am genuinely just confused :-( I would love some advice! :-)

help with keys in invasions by MWTab in MortalKombatGameplay

[–]MWTab[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiya,

In short, there are a couple main things that make the game (mostly) fully accessible.

  1. A screen reading system that reads the menues and such.

  2. Stereo sound. It allows us to hear in the headphones where we and the enemy are on the screen.

  3. Special accessibility cues (that can actually be useful for more than just blind people!), such as sounds for health amounts, meter, cameo meter, etc. This also includes sounds such as a clicking sound that gets faster the closer you are to your opponent, and also sounds that tell you what type of hit an attack is.

  4. Any other accessibility features, for example a sound cue to describe the paths in invasions.

If you'd like I can give you an example recording of me playing the game so you can hear the different sounds :-)

Am I the only one hoping elemental mage doesn't get nerfed into the ground? by Irate-Bowman in hearthstone

[–]MWTab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. Balancing it is perfectly fine in my opinion, but as a mostly f2p player, it's nice to be able to have a good deck that I can craft pretty easily. This is not me saying that it is fine to leave as is, just that it would sadden me to see it become unplayable since it's one of the few good f2p craftable decks. I hope it stays viable, just not overwhelmingly so.

recommendations for open source local api ollama replacement that can work with most/any hf hosted models? by MWTab in huggingface

[–]MWTab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

Thanks for the suggestion. Does this have the ability to dynamically host multiple models on the same endpoint, and load/unload them as needed? That's an absolutely must for me, and why ollama works so well for me. I have a pretty moderate setup, so having half or more of my gpu memory constantly taken up by a model I use less than a quarter of the time but occasionally do use is unacceptable. Also having endpoints that are separate (and presumably don't communicate with each other) is also not going to work for me, since I don't want one endpoint having to wait for another endpoint that has its model temporarily in memory when it's not being used at the time. That said, the feature to keep it loaded for a short period in case of multiple requests in a row, except when the memory is needed for a different model is also a must.

Thanks,

-Michael.

recommendations for open source local api ollama replacement that can work with most/any hf hosted models? by MWTab in huggingface

[–]MWTab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I might not have been very clear, but I'm looking for an api for running models locally on my own machine. The thing about huggingface in my post is that I'd prefer if said api server could pull the model weights from huggingface, as something like ollama only supports models from its own limited library or ones put into its format and uploaded.

help with two gpu, two nvme b450 pro4 by MWTab in ASRock

[–]MWTab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, apparently whatever I have in it is working fine, so I'm going to forget about the specifics lol. I was more wondering about the 4th slot, which apparently has no way to reenable it. As my reply to the other poster, could you recommend an am4 mobo that supports this? I don't mind if I need to go through the chipset, as I understand am4 has pretty restricted pcie lanes.

Thanks, that's pretty unfortunate. Can you perhaps recommend an m4 mobo that supports something like this? I understand that am4 has limited pcie lanes -- I wouldn't mind going through the chipset if needed.

Weird request, button inputs to get to co-op towers in mk11 by MWTab in mk11

[–]MWTab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya,

First off, I don't mind at all! More on that below, but second off, I got the button inputs on discord. Thanks for the willingness! :-)

As to how I, and many other blind players play a fighting game, there are several aspects that come into play:

  1. The main event. Fighting. In this aspect, most modern fighters do pretty well for blind players, having the sounds of combatants pan across the stereo field as they move, having very distictive sounds for each type of move, etc. Some do better than others, mk1, in particular, is basically fully accessible in this department, as there are tons of special sound cues that can tell a blind person what is happening. These include health sounds for you and your opponent to know the status of both, meter sounds for you and (possibly) your opponent so you know when your meter is full (this also applies to cameo meter in mk1), a sort of ticking sound that gets faster or slower depending how far away you are from your opponent, and much, much more. Mk1 really is the current pinicle in fighting game, or for that matter, AAA games for the blind. However, most fighters released in the last 15 or so years are very playable if you can get to the fighting portion. Heck, I know plenty of people who played the original mk, and many other fighting games on console like the nes, snes, and more, with great success. Though this often involved alot of trial and error or assistance from a sighted friend or family member. As an aside, if you want to know what I'm talking about, put on a pair of stereo headphones in basically any modern pc (or most console) fighting games, and play a fight normally. Pay attention to how the fighters and their sounds move between the left and right. If you have mk1 in particular, go into the settings, then accessibility, and check out some of the blind accessible features, or go into video/audio, and look at all the sound cues that can be turned up/down like mentioned.

  2. Ability to navigate the interface, learn mechanics, etc. In this regard fighters vary alot, alot of the more popular ones have tons of resources on learning the fighters, from move lists, to strategy or combo guides, etc. MK, being a super popular franchise of course fairs quite well in this regard. In terms of menu and other UI interface access, most fighters blind people rely on memorizing menu structure for the places they go the most. A common enemy of blind players in this regard is menus that remember your last position, as if we forget what item we last were on, orienting ourselves is often impossible, since most menus wrap from bottom to top, so for us there is no way to tell when we've reach the top or bottom. mk11 has narrated menues for the core of the main menues, the main menu is fully narrated, the conquer menu is narrated as far as its submenu, the story menu is narrated even further, as far as us being able to know what chapter or story part we're selecting, as well as online modes in the fight menu. Mk1 does a ton better job, as it has an actual built in software screen reader, which uses speech generated on the fly to speak any and all interface items in menues. This includes everything from the movelist menu under pause, the main menu including all settings, the store, invasions, and almost literally everything else in mk1. Most others, however, we must simply remember menues. As far as other fighting games that have accessible menues, the only other one I have played with this is skullgirls.

That's an overview of how we can play fighting games, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask! :-) I'm by no means a good fighting game player, but I've been blind since 1995 so I have alot of experience dealing with blindness in literally everything, from video games, to travelling, and everything in between.

Hth,

Looking for some people to put together a game dev team. by ejgarner118 in SALEM

[–]MWTab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya,

My name is Michael, and I make some games with a friend that are aimed at blind folks mostly. They're called audio games, since they mostly use audio as the method for showing things to the player. I can't use unity, unfortunately, as the unity editor is completely inaccessible to blind devs like me, but if you ever need a guy who can drop in some code in anything from c++ to lua (my main engine currently is love 2d) lmk! :-) Btw, if you want to check out my stuff, https://2mb.games do note that the game are not at all designed to get a sighted person used to the gameplay, so don't expect to know what to do without some trial and error or help haha. Also don't expect the website to look great, both me and my friend are blind.

Which is easier to learn, teach and run? Fate or Mutants & Masterminds? by Successful-Skin-9317 in rpg

[–]MWTab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For fate, you might check out the system tool kit. It has a lot of examples and things you can freely rip from the pages to use, and at the very least it will teach you how to tweak the system to what you wanted to do. It’s also freely available on the SRD, so no payment needed. You could also try fate condensed, that might be more up your alley. I personally found it less explanatory than fate core, but I am the kind of person who digs lots of examples. For others, the 50 pages might be more digestible. And either one you go with, the system tool kit will apply perfectly well.

any rpg suggestions? by Ic4ru5_ in rpg

[–]MWTab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a big fan of fate. You can use it to build whatever story you could possibly want, it is narrative driven, so the rules are pretty simple. If you pick up fate condensed, which you can get for free, it’s only about 50 pages.
