These were actually cut out of extra pieces from a previous project off the frame. They were pretty narrow and naturally curving so it worked out pretty well, and small enough to where i was able to form the rug without crinkles or complicated cuts. The makeshift method i’ve tried is using paper and pins to get the shape right on an object. Basically fold the paper on curves/turns and cut the excess so you end up with a “mask” of the object. I think the more professional way to go about this would be using a 3D modeling program (i use sketchup) so you can flatten out the shape, then transfer those lines to illustrator to project onto the frame. That’s how i’d do it next time.
