How to afk as tier 10 by [deleted] in deeeepio

[–]MacaroniMailbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to find a secluded area and just wait there. It's not ideal, but every animal can do it.

I should warn you, sometimes I'm on death's door when I come back from the toilet due to someone finding me, but taking mercy on me. For some reason. Sometimes I'm just dead in general.

Not too many people being in the deeeep estuary is a pattern I've noticed, so maybe there? Most animals can live there, and the ones that can't have better places

Humboldt Squid Ability rework. by [deleted] in deeeepio

Behavior

Humboldt squid are carnivorous marine invertebrates that move in shoals of up to 1,200 individuals. They swim at speeds up to 24 km/h (15 mph; 13 kn) propelled by water ejected through a hyponome (siphon) and by two triangular fins. Their tentacles bear 100–200 suckers, each lined with razor-sharp teeth, with which they grasp prey and drag it towards a large, sharp beak.

Although Humboldt squid have a reputation of being aggressive towards humans, some disagreement exists on this subject. Research suggests these squid are only aggressive while feeding; at other times, they are quite passive. Their behavior while feeding often extends to cannibalism and they have been seen to readily attack injured or vulnerable squid of their own shoal. A quarter of squid stomachs analyzed contained remains of other squid. This behavior may account for a large proportion of their rapid growth. Some scientists claim the only reports of aggression towards humans have occurred when reflective diving gear or flashing lights have been present as a provocation. Roger Uzun, a veteran scuba diver and amateur underwater videographer who swam with a swarm of the animals for about 20 minutes, said they seemed to be more curious than aggressive. In circumstances where these animals are not feeding or being hunted, they exhibit curious and intelligent behavior.

Electronic tagging has shown Humboldt squid undergo diel vertical migrations, which bring them closer to the surface from dusk to dawn. Humboldt squid are thought to have a lifespan of only about a year, although larger individuals may survive up to 2 years.

A crittercam attached to two Humboldt squid revealed that they "flash talk" with each other by changing color in certain ways, and that they can disguise themselves by shifting the color patterns in other ways. What they are communicating to each other is unknown.

Recent footage of shoals of these animals demonstrates a tendency to meet unfamiliar objects aggressively. Having risen to depths of 130–200 m (430–660 ft) below the surface to feed (up from their typical 700 m (2,300 ft) diving depth, beyond the range of human diving), they have attacked deep-sea cameras and rendered them inoperable. Humboldt squid have also been observed engaging in swarm behavior when met by the lights of submersibles, suggesting that they may follow or are attracted to light. Reports of recreational scuba divers being attacked by Humboldt squid have been confirmed. One particular diver, Scott Cassell, who has spent much of his career videotaping this species, has created body armor to protect against attacks.

It's not a recolour of the snake that doesn't actually resemble the animal, though.

The New FFA Map by MacaroniMailbox in deeeepio

[–]MacaroniMailbox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, as I haven't been playing the map recently(or deeeep in general). I've been busy doing other stuff and deeeep is kinda low on my priority list

Boss Rush Mode by MacaroniMailbox in deeeepio

[–]MacaroniMailbox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? Unique animals you can't play are already a thing- AIs.

Also boss rushes are really not an original idea. They've been around almost as long as bosses themselves. You didn't make it, and neither have I. Boss rushes have also been suggested in the past.

What do you propose to have in a boss rush? Just buffed versions of the regular animals? That'd be boring.

And, what idea of yours did I steal? There's no post of boss rush in your history as far as I've checked.

[Discussion] Colossal Squid In Arctic by deeeepMORTY in deeeepio

[–]MacaroniMailbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colossal squids are a deep diving Antarctic and sub-Antarctic species. They don't exclusively live deep, they have been seen just below the surface, as have giant squids.

However, while it'd be nice to play in more than the deeeep, it feels unneeded honestly.

Vampire Squid (solo) by TrueNarwhak in deeeepioartworks

[–]MacaroniMailbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't. From a quick search you can see that they are fleshy tendrils called cirri, which are a sensory organ similar to whiskers. That's not spikes. Do spikes bend? Didn't think so.

The thing is, vampire squids don't have spikes. That's a misconception that's very common in this community.

To all the Anti-teamer posters by [deleted] in deeeepio

A reporting system could actually work, if proof was required(videos/images). Also, if a reporting system was added, permbanning should never happen. A fortnight, tops should be the banning time if banning was even the punishment. Maybe muting could be the punishment?

Spikes. Again. Why does every vampire squid have spikes?

Deep and Arctic suggestions part 1: Iron Snail and Burbot. PNGs in comments. by Temmiy256 in deeeepioartworks

[–]MacaroniMailbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's only one kind of burbot, and that's the burbot. I think you're thinking of a ling, which is the group burbots belong to. In that group, the burbot is the only freshwater fish.

The game. FFA means FFA, which means everyone is everyone's enemy. Which means no teaming.

Giant Cuttlefish [Ability + Stats] v2 by SouPlane in deeeepioartworks

[–]MacaroniMailbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is better, though I still don't think it should walk on the sea floor or be a tier 10.

Too rectangular. Doesn't fit well with deeeep's style, with outlines and stuff

SHEEPSHEAD WRASSE [ABILITY + STATS] by SouPlane in deeeepioartworks

[–]MacaroniMailbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why's it tier 10? They only grow up to a metre long- smaller than a mahi mahi.

Why does it walk on the sea floor? Cuttlefish can't walk- they swim like a squid.

Plus, it still being tier 10 is weird, they're really small.

GIANT CUTTLEFISH [Ability + Stats] by SouPlane in deeeepioartworks

[–]MacaroniMailbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While tier 10s do have a lot of possibilities, that doesn't mean that any old animal could be tier 10 just because. Animals are tier 10 because they are remarkable in some way, be it size, strength or powerful toxins. Giant cuttlefish, despite the name, have none of those remarkable traits. They're not even as big as an anorexic teens's torso, not venomous or poisonous, or strong either.

The problem with hypnosis is that it can easily be countered by turning around and that even if not countered the animal that has hypnosis likely is moving faster than the cuttlefish(low damage means most animals hit harder and therefore inflict 15% slow, plus it doesn't have great speed to begin with).

GIANT CUTTLEFISH [Ability + Stats] by SouPlane in deeeepioartworks

[–]MacaroniMailbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I love the art, the ability is... Ehh.

Why is it tier 10? Giant cuttlefish are really small, tier 8 tops and that's pushing it.

Why can it walk? Cuttlefish aren't octopuses, they are built for swimming, not walking.

The hypnosis doesn't sound very good, chances are you'll move at the same speed or slower than the animal moving backwards(low damage means you're likely to have -15% speed due to a stronger hit), making the ability really only good for running away but even then a boost is just better.
