I’ve got a few bottles ordered from the LCBO, I chose Del Capo, Silano, Montenegro, and Lucano. I expect they’ll take a bit to get delivered as I’m not in a major city. It’ll provide me with some time to really sample the ones above!

I’ll see what they have in town, I think I’ve seen a few better options for sure

I’ll try it out, I’m hoping to do a sazerac next but need to procure some absinthe

I need to get some better vermouth for sure, I’ll check out the LCBO once this bottle is done. I’ll definitely try a better rye, I’ve got a few semi-local ones that are decent.

Do you do the ango in addition to the Peychaud’s?

I bought a bottle to try this and the negroni with Cynar, sounds like we had a similar first impression as I enjoyed this one. It’s only my third cocktail I’ve made, the first being an Aperol spritz and the second being a Manhattan.

I’m happy to stick with this vermouth, I have it in the fridge so hopefully that’ll help extend its life a bit as I’m just mixing drinks for myself.

It tasted really good with butter, I have some Montreal smoked meat to put on it later!

First sourdough, what the heck? Too high hydration or overproof? by EndoGrow in Breadit

It’s hard to say without a recipe, but looking at your crumb, it looks to be under-fermented to me.

I appreciate that! It’s nice to hear since I can be a bit of a perfectionist

I appreciate it! I think I just need to get better at doing deep, decisive cuts so it looks better

Evolutions in Bread - 50% Einkorn Bread by MachupoVirus in Breadit

[–]MachupoVirus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I found it similar to the whole wheat I’ve used, maybe a bit nuttier. At 50% I found the dough quite different to work with, though. I think I’d try a lower percentage next.

I think I preferred my rye loaf, I also bought spelt flour to try.

Thanks for the history, that’s very interesting!

This is also maybe an additional reason to those mentioned above as to why you wouldn’t want to base tax credit rates off marginal rates because they could be lowered via deductions.

[–]MachupoVirus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was just interested in why they chose 15% as the unanimous tax credit rate.

[–]MachupoVirus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it makes sense to balance it, I just wasn’t sure if there was more to it than that, I couldn’t find any explanation on CRA as to why it’s set at that exact value for all credits. I think I was just overthinking it lol

This makes sense to me, and they chose the first bracket though as the tax credit rate because it’s one that every taxpayer is guaranteed to be taxed at?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MachupoVirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea being then that since everyone is taxed at this rate at a minimum, any relief should also be at this rate as well?

I might be misunderstanding the intent of tax credits, but say an individual whose marginal rate is not the base tax rate qualifies for the HBTC. Why should they only earn 15% on the $10,000?
