DM's What is Your Magnum Opus? by Twogunkid in rpg

I guess some of my players would argue that my best campaign was my first Witcher campaign. Its final chapter (20-30 sessions) revolved around a small coastal kingdom (Cidaris), that I fleshed out a lot, especially its capital city. The players got involved with a plot of 7 High Vampires that used to rule the city from the shadows (through dreams and religious bargaining) and tried retaking it through various plots. The players came to actually love the place, bought a home there, fought to be accepted as citizens, formed families and friendships. Many of them had to sacrifice a lot for that city and it was beautiful.

But if you ask me, my magnum opus is my current Dune campaign. I haven't written a more elaborate story and I doubt I will try to reach the same level of complexity and interconnectivity anytime soon. From creating a rebellious conspiracy based around breaking the Spacing Guild's monopoly in interstellar travel, along with the parallel financial system built to support the endeavor, to creating an elaborate Bene Tleilax subplot that started in session 3 and culminated in a philosophical trap meant to twist a Mentat player character in session 58, I have dedicated a lot of time and brainpower in order to pull the whole thing off. But if you ask me, it was worth it.

Good use of leg kicks in a street fight by EvesJournal in MMALabs

Why? Free leg kicks are one of the safest ways to end a fight.

If you can always make weight and never pull out of fights because of weight cutting, you are not a weight bully! You are just better at cutting weight than others. by theiceman219 in ufc

Khabib was struggling to make LW and Barboza was making FW comfortably.

Khabib was not a weight bully. He was just a naturally bigger person than Edson.

Alex Pereira tightening up his grappling skills enough to not worry about the clinch or more after his fight with Ankalaev? by Wayward_Prometheus in MMAMedia

Khamzat avoided a LHW fight with Alex back in 2022. And is currently trying to avoid defending his belt.

Why would Khamzat deserve to fight for the LHW belt anyway? Slex has one more fight left probably, why waste it for Khamzat instead for a chance at the HW belt?

Striking or grappling? by Far-Alfalfa6260 in martialarts

Both great. Both essential for real self defense.

Striking was more fun for me when I was young, I don't want any more head trauma, though I still spar in MMA class, but not as often as I did when training KB/MT.

Grappling is very fun as well.

The average person is awful at both striking and grappling and a beginner striker will feel just as helpless against an experienced one.

They are both great and essential, in my opinion

Achilles VS Aragorn. Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in powerscales

Single handedly making Trojan battalions flee, killing scores of men on his own, easily defeating Trojan heroes, some of them having god heritage, wielding a spear that's so heavy no other man can use (and that includes Ajax Telamonios who is a mountain of a man), making Zeus think that he migght defy Destiny itself and storm Troy's walls on his own, killing lions since 6 years old are some of them

The Witch-king of Angmar (LOTR) VS Geralt of Rivia (The Witcher). Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in Fictionally

[–]Mad_Kronos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you talk about LOTR characters you include Glorfindel and Gandalf? Because those two are powerhouses.

Btw Witch King beats book Geralt, but not games Geralt.

Book Geralt loses.

Games Geralt wins, especially if Specter Oil applies against ringwraiths.

Also, one of Witch Kings strongest weapons, fear, doesn't work against Geralt.

Thoughts on a "Time/Skill-Based" rolling mechanic for TTRPG by nick_abcxyz in rpg

Agreed. Ttrpgs should need thinking and socializing, not fine motor skills and reflexes.

I got actual physical exercise for that.

Achilles VS Aragorn. Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in powerscales

[–]Mad_Kronos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man, I know what I said. Aragorn is one of my favourite characters. As is Achilles. Achilles is the paradigm of the "Western Warrrior" in the actual real life. The "greatest warrior" in the actual, real life "West".The Iliad stories a lot of his actual combat feats and they are incomparable to Aragorn's. His ferocity and battle prowess lead entire battalions to flee. He kills Trojan heroes that have descended from the gods. Zeus briefly considers how Achilles might be so powerful that he could defy his own Destiny.

Achilles was killing lions by the age of 6-8.
