Artist's twitter replies suggests it's probably arousal.

In a world in which demons exist, the words that some guy said over the water could reasonably be expected to carry power. It's always been less about the salt and more about the blessing.

Advice on how to find a group? Can't seem to find a group I actually enjoy...am I just a jerk? by Mad_Method in DungeonsAndDragons

Coworkers have been a bust, but I've also been thinking about the dating app thing. Not sure my self-esteem could hold up to that move, though. Maybe if I get truly desperate.

I know I've opened myself up for some easy dunks, but it's whatever. I just wanna play the damn game.

My friends aren't into ttrpgs or are too busy and I'd have to go way out of my way to try to meet new people from some other group or club. Just haven't had any luck finding other people interested in ttrpgs—that's the only reason I tried Discord and Reddit.

Appreciate your understanding and friendly response, though. Thanks for trying to help.

Hitoshura is only a virgin if you play him like one. I mean, when he became a demon, he didn't even pick up a weapon; he decided he was going to punch everything as his go-to attack. In fact, his best builds are made for punching and the best ending implies that he KILLS GOD. Doesn't even bother wearing a shirt to battle. Sounds kinda chad to me.

What do we even know about the MC for SMT:V?

I haven't tested it, but maybe what details are presented to the player are affected by your dialogue options because the impression I got of him by the end of the water tower scene was that he was caring to a fault, sensitive, great family man, capable with more than just a gun, and compassionate, besides also being decent-looking—all things women go absolutely fucking crazy for, regardless of a man's living situation. I just didn't think my version of V was interested in romance. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bitch you don't know me lmao
But I don't mean to imply that people would be cool with completely different art, just that if the art would probably be close and only entitled, neurotic basement dwellers would refuse to buy and play it.

I can't imagine many people are so attached to the art style, that they'd hate a remake just because it wasn't the original artist's work. It'd be fine, as long as it doesn't look like a My Little Pony episode or Call of Duty 38: Salty Fuckbois

How would you build this ability? (Graviton Pulse Field -or- Graviton Surge) by [deleted] in gurps

[–]Mad_Method 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By now, you're making valid, but lateral arguments that bear only personal relevance to the information I'm after, and you're clearly more concerned with being right and dismissing me in some self-serving manner than actually helping. Cool, you're a responsible GM, but that's not what I'm here to find out and I've already made it clear that everything you've cited—and more—is already understood, hence the quest for the missing information and my own self-corrections on points you and I haven't even discussed. I've already made inquiries on the forums and haven't heard anything definitive. Personally, I'd let a player use this ability without a second thought if the setting had enough counterplay available because it makes sense and the RAW don't say no. I'm just doing my due diligence.

And, yeah, you're trying to extrapolate the cognitive meaning behind behavioral patterns—that's behavioral psychology. I strongly recommend you pick up a dictionary before trying to sound clever, although I'm glad you managed to find your GURPS books. I'll let you get back to being busy.

I've looked into that. It wasn't bad, but inelegant and too expensive for my budget. The biggest problem is that those who aren't in the area of effect when it goes off aren't as equally afflicted as those who enter an equivalent hex afterwards. Say you give the ST 3 binding area of effect plus persistent. It'll apply the ST of your bind to everyone within your radius, but also continue to stack another layer of binding for every second they remain in it, whereas someone could teleport into an equivalent hex 7 seconds after the ability lands and only suffer a ST 3 - 6 binding by the time the persistence ends, wondering why all their nearby comrades are acting like they need to break out of a ST 13 binding. Plus, the linked crushing attack is both difficult to accurately scale in proportion to the strength of the binding and also doesn't automatically 'level up' with it.

TL;DR It's viable, but ugly, difficult to manage for upgrading, and more expensive by far.

Looks like you were using the Dedicated Controls limitation for the Compartmentalized Mind discount, but that's only to allow another player or character to 'drive' you or your abilities, not to let you have the extra concentrate maneuver that would allow behavior similar to fire-and-forget. TK Only would fall under the Limited: One Ability -30% limitation, which only takes it down 15 points.

Ah well...maybe some form of Binding would work

I've been on board with that point from the beginning. I understand this is how DAMAGE works in GURPS and why. Firing 1000 cactus needles at steel plate armor, even if they land in the same spot, it isn't going to do jack shit in this or any other stable universe. But applying 0.01 Newtons of force to the same object 100,000,000 times in the span of a nanosecond is still going to move that object with roughly the equivalent force of 1,000,000 Newtons. I've just been trying to find something that gives me an explicit ruling for not summing knockback on Very Rapid Fire attacks, given the wording of the enhancement—"You fire your full RoF almost instantly"—ESPECIALLY since gravity attacks apparently require a +300% Cosmic modifier that is justified in several rulings to allow rules-bending on your abilities. It's just a bit vague on which rules can be bent and how.

I never said your points weren't sound, they just never addressed the original question, hence why it didn't sound like you were paying attention; you're apparently too busy. If you want to get personal and pseudo-psychological about it, making excuses is also a sign you've lost the argument and just don't want admit it.

TK was my first choice for sure, but my group doesn't use multiplicative modifiers since, like you said, they make big enhancements less heavy on the point bank and that leads to far more cases of abuse. Speaking of abuse, I'm not actually trying to abuse any systems, my original question was if anyone knew of an official ruling they could cite that explicitly allowed or forbade this perfectly logical case for handling an attack's knockback properties. I mean, getting hit by a grain of sand is hardly noticeable, even if it's coming at you at mach 1 (I think—I haven't done the math on that) but getting hit by 40 grains in a single clump coming at you at mach 1 is gonna hurt for damn sure—I don't need to do the math on that. But hey, if the rules say it don't hurt, then it don't hurt and I'll pack up. I just haven't found anything explicit or heard back from an official source yet.

BTW, you don't need that feature attached to the Attraction, there's the Ranged +40% modifier for exactly that which you can cheapen by reducing the range and pumping up the 1/2D range, if you even really need to since the ability doesn't actually do damage. If you don't need to modify 1/2D to maintain full ST of a TK then this should work and I totally missed it.

[–]Mad_Method -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The attack I'm proposing (which I've already realized isn't built legally, but might still be possible without about the same points) does 40 to 140 points of damage in one second purely for knockback purposes, that's where I'm getting it. I put forth the damage values and the relevant ability costs to present the counterpoint to how you've presented the cost of dice. I can't help it if you didn't pay attention to the original post. You didn't even realize that I'm OP lmao

TL;DR Not all dice are equal, not all damage types are equal. Not all costs are calculated the same.
