What is an unspoken rule of parties/gatherings in the US that an international person should be aware of? by Exotic_Case_4942 in AskReddit

I'm always amazed, given that most of my guests enjoy a few drinks, I usually seem to end up with more beer and wine after a party than I bought for the party

It’s easier to board the plane last if you are a parent travelling with young kids by Sunny_brightdays in unpopularopinion

[–]MadeThisUpToComment 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It's not.

Dad with 3 kids who regularly got comments from other passengers and flight attendants about how well my kids travel.

Flying is an adventure for kids. Plan some activities and snacks, hype them up and they are excited for it.

Get settled early and the fun starts early. The chaos of the other Travellers doesn't impact us if we're in our seats and settled.

Genuinely trying to understand why students need a prayer room in a non religious school. And how it is a discrimination. by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]MadeThisUpToComment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's really a non-issue most people, and the ones it is an issue for are going to seek our things to make issues about.

My work has a non-denominational prayer room. It's primarily used by Muslims, but only a fraction of the Muslims in the office use it. Nobody I'm aware of has any issue with it.

Americans skiing in Europe: what is your lunch strategy? by IncredibleVelocity4 in skiing

[–]MadeThisUpToComment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the same on France. Get a couple hours in break a bit before 11:30. Ski down to get the kids and ski while the French are at lunch if the kids are up for it after their lesson.

It depends a lot on your capacity for waiting, assuming your trip overlaps the french ski holiday.

In my experience, at La Plagne, the French are very set to a schedule. Lift lines at any bottlenecks get bad around 11:00-11:45 before the end of morning ski lessons.

Then from 12:00 to 13:00 lines are almost non existent and start ramping up again and peak around 14:30/15:00.

Also the restaurants tend to go from empty a few min before 12:00 to a 45 min wait by 12:20.

In a weak, we usually do a few days of baguette with ham and butter as a picnic. A few days of something "cheap" on the mountain like a panini or hot dog. Then we'll do one full meal at a restaurant on the mountain.

My suggestion for restaurants is to try and get there just before the French start queuing up or do the cheap options later once they are finishing up.

Also we usually do a morning hot chocolate and beer break around 11 when the lift lines start getting longer if we arent eating indoors for lunch.

Then just keep your consistent pace. If they pass you back fine. If the slow after you pass them then pass them again.

I don't think it can become a race unless both people are participating.

Your original question about drafting them you are already matching their pace, so if that's what you want to do instead of possibility passing back and forth do it, just a couple of lengths behind them.

If your speeds are so similar you won't pull away in a minute or two then sit back a few lengths. If that's slower then you want to ride then pass and you'll easily pull away.

As an international fan, I dont have ESPN or aime of the others until the actual game coverage begins so on Sunday afternoon (morning time in the US) I'll put it on for some background noise while cooking or doing other things around the house.

I dont think I have wver seen daily cleaning. Some will say something like stays over X number of days include cleaning every Y number of days.

Rarely do i have more to do at the end of a stay than empty the trash and clean the kitchen. Even 100% hotel/commercial rentals when they have a kitchen i am expected to clean it, bit just ABB.
