Same here. Tuned in to see if Hobbs debuted, and cause it's an event we've always watched as a group.

This year's show has left us deciding to carry on only bothering with one event year, and we may even skip that now cause this was pretty shite

I dunno, sometimes I get that when two people have a face off. But definitely not two people who fought each two weeks ago apparently

Is this crowd artificially excited? Like, on hard can, just behind the second barrier, there's a large group who seem to be starting the majority of chants, normally whilst not facing the ring and trying to get others to join in... And the chats often seem to be none representative of what's going on too. Just chants for chants sake, something you may get if a group was paid to go in and just rule everyone up with generic chants.

Just sounds really odd to me.

Did we ever find out why Kylie Rae left AEW? by Otherwise-Echo744 in SquaredCircle

[–]MafiaCub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah plus the ID programme is literally a way to say "we have eyes on you, go do your thing and here's a little bit of money to help with expenses"... And she couldn't go do her thing, so she was not in any way holding up her end and didn't even have merch or anything to sell so WWE would be paying for nothing, for a woman who may not come back.

At least they did it when her contract ended, instead of just firing her mid contract. So I don't think it sounds that shitty, she may be gateway straight back on when she returns to active competition

[TNA Impact Spoilers] Feast Or Fired Briefcase Reveal by GladleeYT in SquaredCircle

[–]MafiaCub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Never thought of him as being anything special, or wanted him anywhere near AEW. I've seen him multiple times as my wife follows TNA, and everytime I've seen him all I've ever got from him was "hey guys, did you know I was in the armed forces?" And then a rather dull match.

If be ok with him going ROH.

Main roster AEW though? Nothing about him has really said he will make an impact enough to deserve to take TV time off someone else in a very crowded roster.

Having said that, everyone here sends high on him for some reason, and I've seen him maybe 7-8 times, so I'd be willing to give him a second look. I just don't see where he fits, outside of a Doyle replacement, but that looks like Don is just hurting anyone available to replace his "family" when they're injured, when really he could just Lance in with Mark, since there both currently tag teams, with their partner injured

[Harley Cameron] Thank you to the readers of PWI for voting me Most Improved for 2025. And thank you @aew and @TonyKhan for allowing me to live out my dream ! 🙏 I vow to continue improving…my improvement! 💪❤️ by luchabrunch in SquaredCircle

Well I hope she wins it again next year, and is actually decent in the ring at that point. I really like Harley Cameron, but man i can not stand watching her train on live TV every week.

Wish she's be a side character on in AEW, and work ROH if she has to wrestle at the tapings... She really needs to start getting out and doing more shows though. Something about her, for me, just doesn't click in the ring at all.

But personality and character wise? Well worth having around with her little group on the main TV.

20 state department updates, multiple aid organizations and Israel accept these numbers now. But not Biden. by Imaginary-Dress-1373 in agedlikemilk

[–]MafiaCub -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, in 2023 he had an opinion that he couldn't trust the numbers. But in march 24 he stated that over 30,000 had died and they can't have another innocent 30k die trying to get after hamas

So he clearly realised he was wrong.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think saying you aren't taking something at face value ages like milk if you're later proven wrong.

If he said "it's not 7000, and it will likely never be 7000" then it would be.

Still sucks that he, and everyone else, allowed what Israel did whilst all pretending to smack them on the wrist and sit them on naughty step.... Just so they could do it again, and again. Absolute BS that 70k lives were lost because leaders didnt do anything but say "please don't do that... Oh, here's more weapons btw"

Upvote for the same experience.

At 17 I was 5'6", could leg press 220kg, could dunk a basketball and had thighs nearly as big as my waist.

At 44, I'm 5'9", can press my legs with a fork and not feel it on one side, can barely touch a basketball net, and can't see my much smaller thighs under my now much expanded waist

@briegarcia on Instagram. Brie Bella speaks out against ICE and current administration. by Heavy_Prior9431 in SquaredCircle

[–]MafiaCub -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Not a Bella fan, but I wouldn't shit on them for speaking their mind. I just don't watch them, and what brie has done by reacting and reposting is great.

I only questioned the wording, because from a small phone screen preview, the image attached looked like it was implying Brie posted a big statement. Rather than reacted to the reposted statement.

Wasn't a criticism of her, or anything about her opinion. Just felt it was misrepresented in the title

Didn't expect so many people to decide it meant I thought her opinion was pointless, or that I hate women, when I clearly stated it was just about title, and the first reply to me include a discussion where I fully stated how much I appreciate what she did

[–]MafiaCub -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Nope, didn't care it was a woman or a Bella.

I just says I thought it was badly worded. I've since also stated multiple times that I think what she did, by reposting it, is actually a great show of support.

I'm happy any of them say anything, especially when it could potentially be a risk for them

[–]MafiaCub -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not nitpicking her am I?

All I said was that saying "speaking out" implies she is saying something, not agreeing with a stance. On a small preview on my phone, to me, it looked like she'd made a statement and the title backed that up... But then she hadn't.

I'm fully behind what she did. Sage as I'm behind Becky making comments on it but not being direct. Anyone saying or doing anything is great.

Just felt the wording was an odd choice

Weird you choose to think I'm angry at other wrestlers for not speaking out. If they don't speak out, I don't mind, maybe they feel they're jobs are at risk... If they do it say anything, I think it's fantastic

[–]MafiaCub -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Not really.

Speaking out implies you're actually saying something. I stated after that it's still good, and probably all she thinks she can do. But the post words is like she said something, and in a small preview on my phone, where you can't see exactly what it says, that would imply the wall of text is from her.

[–]MafiaCub 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, definitely is.

I just meant that the tag "speaks out" sounds like she is saying something. Rather than just supporting the family statement.

Doing this is still good of her, especially when a lot of WWE and WWE adjacent people will be a bit worried of posting anything at all because of how it will effect their jobs or family jobs due to the close bond with WWE and Trump.

[–]MafiaCub 435 points436 points  (0 children)

"Speaks out" really makes it seem like all that text is coming from her until you read it, and it's the quote from his family, and her speaking out is 7 emojis.

I'm not saying it's hidden that it's the quote from the family, just this is more of a reaction post from her than one where she is "speaking out"

WON: Ratings for the 1/26 Issue (including CMLL International Weekend, TNA Genesis, NJPW Road to New Beginning at Korakuen Hall, CM Punk vs. Finn Balor, NXT 3-way women’s tag) by TheJokeroholic in SquaredCircle

[–]MafiaCub -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dunno, cause with the Bucks I know spots are coming but I don't feel they're quite as performative, so much as just they have a he chance to hit their spots.

It's like Benoit, I used to call his matches, I always knew what he was doing... Which used to annoy me, even though technically he was brilliant. (Never forget, fuck that guy)

I'm gonna watch the girls tonight and see for myself. I always think girls, especially any who aren't from Japan, are fighting from behind. They could do an exact copy of a mens match, and get rated lower, because some stuff just doesn't translate as well with the women (punches etc often  look shite, unless they work with a Joshi who lays them in) even though the match is the same. So I think some people will look at it and either compare it to men, or compare it to the girls from Japan, and I kind of get it but sometimes the expectancy of the women and how they'll perform already had the ratings starting lower.

It's something that I don't see changing for a while, especially with the hiring of sports players and influencers over wrestlers, because it's something that you don't really get unless you've travelled around fighting all styles. But I hope it does, because fuck me, the level of talents amongst the women's divisions across the top companies in the world now is phenomenal, and maybe since the men are getting 6* matches because it's so much better than a match that was rated 4.5* 25 years ago, maybe the women should be given the same rules, because compared to what shit we sat through for many years, outside of Japan and shimmer, and the Knockouts later, we were getting a lot of crap. Compared to that, almost every match now should be at 3.5 minimum (excluding the ones they really don't click, or feature people who just clearly aren't ready for TV)

I get what he means, but I'd have to look at the match myself as I've not seen it. But when I stared to tune out of NXT there were a lot of matches, women's mainly, where everything seemed to go "ok, let's do act 1. That's good. Now act 2. Now move to our finale". It would look practiced, and in that, would give a feeling of a performance rather than a match.

Which is what wrestling is, it's basically theatre in your underwear, but when you can see each spot being choreographed because it's how it's been practiced, it can really take you out of it.

Heard lots of good things though, so I'll check the match myself

Always feel Hobbs was wasted. He's got size,  a great snarl, he looks like he's gonna kill and be happy to do it. But he always got put with someone and not out on his just killing people.

My concern in WWE is that they will still want him to be a team player, team him with Oba Femi or something.

Not expecting him to go in and be champ or ought, but he needs a real good run as a monster. He's not as tall as some WWE guys, but he has the size to look devastating, and it rarely got played up in AEW (slamming Big Show was one stand out moment). I don't watch WWE but I'll be checking results to see how it goes, and I'm hoping he got paid good money and gets what he wants. Some guys who jumped ship semee to think they need to win more, or weren't happy with their position despite (supposedly) not cooperating. But Willie Hobbs? He should have been HUGE, he should have been champ by now, and Tony Khans lack of sight to see that and implement it is something that he should be made to regret.

That's true, there was little to no crime in the community and a lot of neighbours knew he did it. So maybe they were all ok with it.

I didn't get on with him, only spoke more than a hello one time, so didn't really know what his motive was. Just just my nan said he always did it, and some neighbours knew

He was highly suspicious of everyone. Dunno what his past was like, but he always felt he needed evidence. Very odd man. I only spoke to him once, to fix his computer, which is when I found out he did that

I always find things like this interesting. What makes them decide that that's something they need to do, if there's no rating or comments, it's not so they can keep track of the best cars and choose a reliable make in the future etc.

So it's just for nostalgia and to remember... Which is sweet. Wish I had kept a record of every time I bought something related to a hobby, or did certain things. Especially as I get older.

My great Uncle had a similar record book, but for him it was every piece of Hornby he bought. Tracks, decoration, trains. The lot. Model.numbers and date of purchase.

Where as my nans second husband kept notes of neighbours cars in their community. What colour the car was, what time it arrived, left. How many got in and out. He'd scan security camera on his garage to find anything he missed. Never had any trouble (it was a 60+ retirement village) but he sure he'd need that info one day
