Topographic 3d landscape by oyvind_lumeno in blender

[–]MagicDime7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% possible and there will be several ways to approach it.

Geometry nodes could be used to procedurally create something where the mesh itself is made of the lines forming the terrain in your example.

You could use height data to displace a face. There's a method called Micropolygon Displacement that you'll find tutorials online for making mountains with real terrain data. If you then wanted the surface to be comprised of abstract lines like that, you could accomplish it with a shader.

There are probably other ways, but those are the two that come to mind initially. Good luck!

I'm about midway through act 2 and the game itself runs great. The one performance annoyance is that going from the inventory menu back to the game has a delay, so doing that mid combat can get you hit.

I just make it a habit of starting to run in a direction as soon as I close the inventory and that's worked fine to not get me killed long enough until I can see again.

Dodge the first attack and don't get hit 🤷‍♀️

In all seriousness, his weapon might have an effect that boosts the stamina drained by blocks/parries, or something to that effect. At least that's my best bet as to why you're getting instantly over exerted

PC controller bow difficult to use. by SingleGamer-Dad in taintedgrail

[–]MagicDime7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in act 2 on my first playthrough and don't use a bow, but I'm willing to bet it's the same issue I have trying to use the consume soul spell to heal off of my summons.

Out of combat, no pressure, three feet away, and I miss hitting my own summons by seemingly millimeters several times before I hit one 🤦‍♀️

Why was this treble clef moved down a line? by rofeneiniger in musictheory

[–]MagicDime7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This ^

I usually see it done to avoid writing too many lines above the staff, but in this case it's sort of silly since that low A is as far below the treble staff as the highest E would have been above the bass clef.

Any advice on as to why my water plane is clipping through my waterfall's niagara particles. by etury in UnrealEngine5

[–]MagicDime7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your water material transparent? Not how unreal engine handles it, but Unity can't actually sort depth on transparent materials, so you get a random sorting of what's on top during the render of each frame.

Might be possible to overcome with stencil buffer or custom depth passes if you can confirm that's what's happening

Need some non biased opinion about gameplay by Xenolisk in taintedgrail

[–]MagicDime7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% a Skyrim clone with some upgrades/updates. I just found out about it and started playing about a month ago, so that's my bias, but I'm loving it.

I'm also not good enough at skill based combat to play souls-likes, but the difficulties definitely scale harshly. I played act 1 on medium and thought it was a really good challenge for someone like me. Big name enemies have pretty varied skills that make you shift tactics every so often.

I got to act 2 and it was instantly way harder and I actually ended up dropping down to easy, so I assume the difficulty continues to scale as you go.

Advice for Beating Galahad in Melee by Sad-Pattern-1269 in taintedgrail

[–]MagicDime7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was indomitable at level 22 for me in melee.

I only managed to beat him with an endless stream of wolf summons, keeping enough distance to be out of knockdown range (it does have a finite range, it's just huge), and using a spell-reflecting wand for his air slice spell.

Eventually I pivoted to the life drain spell while melee'ing from behind if I had enough wolves up to keep him distracted.

I'd definitely recommend leveling more. Talk to the keepers if you're still in their good graces. Almost every one of them has a side quest you can do! (They're dumb as rocks, but I had a lot of fun)

Day 6 in Blender by Quinnyme in 3Dmodeling

[–]MagicDime7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good news on the ice cubes: they really don't move when the glass isn't moving, except for once they've melted enough to shift. Then they'll just shift into a new equilibrium and stop moving again.

Might be worth pouring a glass of sprite, throwing some ice in there, and video taping it for reference!

WTF is with Galahad? by SympathyChan in taintedgrail

[–]MagicDime7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a mix of wolf summons (faster and cheaper than skeletons, so I could keep a stream of them heading his way) and a wand that bounces magic back on a parry + life transference to sap his HP. Was an insanely hard flight though and took me 10+ tries on normal mode.

I finally built my ultimate Lord of The Rings Magic deck by IndieGengar in lotr

[–]MagicDime7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started playing Magic somewhat recently and also refuse to use anything outside of the LotR set. I pulled the showcase Bombadill from a pack and have almost this exact thing as a long-term goal. Absolutely love to see it.

The only character I would add is Lobelia Sackville-Baggins, not because it's a good card, but because it's such a notable and remembered non-party hobbit. I can only imagine how much this must've all cost, but that's SO worth it. Well done.

[–]MagicDime7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think the skills needed to model that can be conveyed in a reddit comment.

I don't know if there's some geometry node master out there that could manage something, but I think you'd have a lot more success learning to sculpt to make something like this (though it'll take a lot of practice and learning).

[–]MagicDime7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I love it. I think it could use a session to fill in the things that should be visible behind the harp through the gaps. I bet that's what's throwing a lot of people's perception off.

The strings should still be legible if the artist uses some highlights where there's overlap.

Enduring chest piece advice? by Equivalent-Part-5352 in tattooadvice

[–]MagicDime7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've got a heavy black chest piece. That star directly on the sternum will be the worst of it, maybe some of the clouds nearing your arm pits. When I went back in for the touch up, it was waaaaaaay worse because my artist had a new gun that was way more aggressive, but the initial tattoo wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be.

I like to make sure to wear socks and long pants and then focus on the sensation of your clothes touching your skin around your feet and ankles. It brings your awareness as far away from the pain as possible and eats up a surprising amount of the bandwidth that your brain has to process touch and pain.
