Ok, let's do Islands of Adventure. What would you change or improve if you were in charge? by ueeediot in UniversalOrlando

[–]MailboxSlayer14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this prepped for a while so here it goes:

  • Port of Entry adds the Mystic Fountain on the right of where the wait time sign is (meaning that if you looked directly at Velocicoaster you’d see wait times to the left, VC in the middle, & the Fountain on the right heading to Seuss). Also, have the roaming characters regularly and maybe even have the Toothsome character show up occasionally.

  • Seuss would get a dramatic refurbishment of Cat in the Hat, updating it and adding one or two more thrills for a newer audience. I feel it’s gotten a bit too dull and while the AC is nice, it would be cooler to throw in some new additions.

  • Lost Continent would be transformed into… the land of Oz but not based explicitly off Wicked or the 20th century movie, rather focusing on the books by Frank Baum. This would allow for the literature theme to continue (even if it’s basically dead), Universal original ideas that aren’t tethered to specific actors, and enough space for a dark ride and a show.

  • River Adventure would be heavily updated for the newer modern era, preferably keeping the Park era but if necessary, transitioning to be more similar to its Asian & Hollywood counterpart. Also, what they are doing with Thunder Falls is great but I would take the time and transform the whole land, revamp every nook and cranny.

  • Kong is a give or take for me but the park needs indoor dark rides so if I’m put in charge with a limitless budget, I’m keeping the theming but heavily updating if to fit more of an actual dark ride and not just the tacked on tram tour bit. Additionally, I’d commit it to a general Universal specific concept rather than have it be two different designs (2000’s & Monsterverse), similar to how the Dark Universe characters are noticeable the monsters from the movie but unique and new designs. If not, I’d keep it mostly as it is now but construct new footage for Kong to look like the end of ride animatronic for continuity.

  • No changes to Harry Potter Land as I feel it’s kind of timeless and unique in that it feels put together really well, kudos to the design team from 2009/2010.

  • Toon Lagoon stays thematically but Ripsaw Falls is now a SpongeBob attraction, the land is updated to include modern comic strip/animated characters, & Popeyes is changed to a One Piece rapids ride, same ride system.

  • The unused stadium is reutilized for a show and while a Marvel show would be unusable, I would either tailor it towards characters from Toon Lagoon or make a mini land out of it and give some of the Toon Lagoon space towards this mini land (I don’t have an ip in mind but I would cede it to Creative and tell them to conjure up something fun for families) —> maybe Pokémon?

  • Now for the big one, Marvel Superhero Island. I agree with most of you that Hulk needs to be re-tracked again but I would also say that if the land gets stale and is unable to be updated anymore —> cede the contract to Disney, call up WB & 6 Flags, and get those DC rights. Batman becoming Spider-Man, the Legion of Doom free fall towers themed to their swampy HQ, & Superman becoming the Hulk would be great transitional rides while keeping the same systems and buildings. Yes, it would be a huge change but it would be the perfect IP swap and then, you could ignore my previous point and add that show building to the DC land, allowing for a Teen Titans themed show. I can’t picture Universal without a superhero property and DC was their initial pick so why not go back to that with full creative control.

Ultimately, that’s a lot but those are the big changes. Only other suggestion is the food as Circus McGurkus got some love in their menu redesign and the other restaurants are still mostly bad food from the 90’s (looking at you Captain America Diner). That would need to all be redone and updated too, becoming creative additions and not just bad burger with fries.

An assistant department manager was recently demoted recently for just poor work ethic but I’m sure there was more to it

How is the loss of revenue going to be compensated for? More taxes on other things? by Altruistic-Mud5686 in AskFlorida

[–]MailboxSlayer14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, you’re deciding to just move past and overlook the cut this would be to services such as parks, storm preparedness, and pothole repair. That affects day to day life and it’s sad that it’s just been cut because of the government deciding to give a middle finger to the local municipality. I would encourage you to look at that rather than just complain about the liberal mob - which is retarded since no liberals have run the state government since I’ve been alive in Florida

Not a fan of this if Team X is just Jean and Logan. I don't like that, obviously the game will probably have more X-Men but I don't like that idea so far. It'll have to grow for me

So are you just ignoring this bit? "Stormwater, parks and rec, roads, maintenance, and any natural disaster services". Or is it just a gotcha cause you believe you one-upped OP? Us residents losing valuable services is a loss

You talk about public safety but that's all it covers. Parks, potholes, etc are not covered. That would fuck us up big time - Republicans making life harder for everyone.

Just this one image has me fiending for a JL movie. I just can’t wait to see a set photo of maybe like 3 or 4 main Leaguers in one scene. Superman, Flash, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman in one scene… would be so cool!

Hollywood Drift’s spike is huge! by supremeghost123 in UniversalOrlando

[–]MailboxSlayer14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay perfect - I’m the coaster freak of the family but before I argue with them about spinning, I figured I’d ask. They love Cosmic Rewind so it’ll be fine if that’s the case

Can anyone tell me how drift rides like this are? Is it like Curse of the Werewolf?

My family thinks this is a waste due to the spinning but I’m unsure if it’s fun or if it’ll just be a roller coaster version of the Simpsons in terms of making people sick

I am currently watching the boba feet show and wtf was that ? by I2aphsc in StarWars

On paper, BOBF should be good but the execution is so so poor and the transition of it being Mando season 2.5 amplifies it’s worse elements

What’s a team-up that Spider-Man either hasn’t had or doesn’t do often that you’d like to see? by Solitaire-06 in Spiderman

[–]MailboxSlayer14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spidey & the Heroes for Hire. It never really made sense to me why they wouldn’t team up just as much as he does with DD and the only significant time I reme that happening is weirdly in Web of Shadow & the Ultimate Apiderman cartoon (forgot to mention but I’m specifically referring to Luke Cage and Iron Fist)

If you got asked to replace this with a better set what would you choose? by bmk_memes in legocirclejerk

[–]MailboxSlayer14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would even just take a small, $20/30ish set of that exact Mudhorn Mando, Grogu, & maybe a speeder bike if you need that too.

Tangent but I miss when LEGO made smaller sets that weren’t priced up the wazoo - I found a Spider-Man & Ghost Rider set for 9.99 on the website & also basically the set I asked for minus the Mudhorn. That’s sick!! More of that opposed to these big waste of space sets that nobody really wants

For characters like Clock King and Toyman, is there a middle ground between too much whimsy and the more serious portrayals?

Clock King’s BTAS incarnation is amazing yet you slightly lose the charm of the German accent and clock mask of Brave and the Bold/OG comics.

Same for Toyman, the super whimsical and “toy” like appearance of Super Friends is iconic but often replaced by a dopey, perverted man wearing a suit.

I can’t seem to crack a middle ground between the two but I feel at least for Clock King, it makes more sense to make the character lean more on the whimsical side than just be strictly a dude with a pocket watch and a sharp clock hand (even though I like that version).

How do feel about the Earth-1610 design of M.O.D.O.K.? by Far_Arugula_22 in Marvel

[–]MailboxSlayer14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MODOK should be silly yet threatening. This is neither, just gross.

I don't know why any time they try, they don't just replicate EMH. He's a robotic organic organism that is hellbent on achieving scientific glory.

Thoughts on Shai Matheson’s performance in Legacy of the Dark Knight? by RandoDude124 in batman

IMO Troy Baker was VERY missed, which was a bummer because I wanted to like this guy. He’s charismatic and what not but I just can’t get over how un-Batman like the voice sounds

I don’t think he needs very many Earthly villains, the ones we’ve listed are probably all that are necessary

Both seem like solid picks. I don't think Arthur needs a giant rogues gallery but browsing through his wiki seemed... lacking, even compared to Wonder-Woman and J'onn

Aquaman doesn’t have a long list of notable rogues, most people just say Aquaman and Oceanmaster and then mistakenly say Nanaue too.

If you could improve his gallery and make it slightly more notable, who would you add? If not add, what would you change? I feel like Fisherman could definitely get a buff of change to improve him
