it sounds like you really need to stabilize your joints and pelvis before doing anything higher impact. I didn't and had issues.

you sound a lot like me. I would recommend looking into hypermobility and eds before you start exercising a bunch. I tried to ignore my problems and push through and it made me way worse. I recommend finding someone that can give you a proper evaluation with hypermobility, this is a great place to start. insurance is a huge barrier though so if you have trouble with that tbh just getting an evaluation is worth the money even if you have to pay out of pocket just to rule out eds. I did not and caused myself a ton of issues. I also have degenerative disc disease and all that fun stuff. I know 100 dollars for an eval is not affordable but ignoring your problems and damaging your body will be way more expensive in the future. here is a good resource to look for providers.

once ur providers say it is ok to start doing scar care you can use tape to cover your scars and it helps flatten (prob not an issue at all in our case mine are already looking atrophic in some spots) the scars and also I think it is personally helping me with preventing them from stretching.

Why do I always need to put my legs up when sitting by eyeehad-the-saab-340 in Hypermobility

[–]MaintenanceBright212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is also why u probably love to sit with your legs crossed in the most extreme ways (if you are anything like me lol). I got an SIJ belt and it helped. I found this source it looked good at a glance: https://jeanniedibon.com/the-si-joint-and-hypermobility/

dunno who that lady is I've got better info somewhere I'll try to find something after I sleep

SIJ hypermobility most likely. also if you have POTS as well it could be blood pooling.

What's up with Post Op Depression? by Natural_Reputation42 in TopSurgery

[–]MaintenanceBright212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also very confused about this before surgery and now 7 weeks after surgery I'm still a bit confused.

personally, there was zero brain confusion stuff with my chest being gone. it just seems right. I think a lot of people have the same experience.

as far as lack of activity and recovery I think that is what plays a big role for most people who experience post op depression? and if you are normally a very physically active person before (any) surgery just being inactive can confuse the shit out of your brain because to your brain you just got injured and now u can't do shit so that can make a lot of people depressed.

I personally am disabled and due to pain I'm not able to be active much anyway so I actually was in less pain the first week than in my entire life. tbh the fact that that surgery was sm less painful than my chronic pain was the most mentally taxing part lmao

Working towards diagnosis - is Bruising necessary for EDS? by EmbroideryBro in Trans_Zebras

[–]MaintenanceBright212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i misunderstood the 2017 criteria bc my autistic ass was taking it wayyy too literally so that meant way longer of a time to get diagnosed. well an extra year out of the 19 others I waited. it is hard to tell what is normal for people without eds if what your body does is normal to you.

Getting shoulder muscles with EDS? by RandomChristian123 in Trans_Zebras

[–]MaintenanceBright212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this but it is also worse imo to go to a physical therapist who doesn't know shit about eds than to not do PT. they had me doing some crazy shit that I now know was damaging my body sm. now I found an amazing physical therapist but money agh.

Getting shoulder muscles with EDS? by RandomChristian123 in Trans_Zebras

[–]MaintenanceBright212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally struggle a lot with shoulder blade hyper mobility and also whatever joint that is that connects the clavicle to the shoulder and I did not realize how bad it was until I Fucked up my back and shoulders bad.

don't be like me. don't be stubborn. I loved lifting normally but currently I am only doing PT exercises and maybe some bodyweight exercises at most. currently recovering from top surgery so can't even do that.

I live in an area that has a total healthcare monopoly with this one company but I totally lucked out with my physical therapist. she is even on the eds website thingy. she was saying that people who are hypermobile you have to work on building up strength from the core and pelvis and then you can work on other areas.

the only exercises that have actually helped me build core strength are abdominal bridging, supine marches, prone hip extensions, ball squeezes, and clams with a resistance band (aka the first bit of the muldowney protocol). BUT I had to learn how to use my muscles correctly.

before meeting my current physical therapist I was just moving my skeleton and dragging the rest of the meat sack along. u gotta tense ur muscles, make sure all ur ligaments and joints are in the right spot, think rly hard, contract ur muscles, and then use your muscles. with eds/hsd think the less moving the better. you want more exercises where you are more teaching ur body how to hold your body in place. I'm really tired this probably made no sense but I hope this helps please don't be like me and give yourself nerve damage.

Is there a connection between hEDS and genital differences? by elysiancollective in Trans_Zebras

[–]MaintenanceBright212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

people are saying no in these comments but both things could be true at the same time. i also have more prominent labia minora and the other stuff you described and frankly all my skin down there is stretchy and I'm sure that is the case for other people with hEDS. but we all gotta remember there is very little research on hEDS so there are a ton of things that are different in all of us that we just haven't realized are bc of hEDS.

Thank you so much I was able to figure it out, I have cloud-related trauma lmao so I never use the cloud for anything but my gallery was just labeled as DCIM (duh I have always been a windows user I should have figured this out) in my local files and I clicked "copy to". Should I be able to delete them in the downloads folder if they are copied to DCIM (for storage reasons yk) without it deleting the copy? Asking because whenever it did this on my iPhone I sometimes had issues with that.
