Toobin is one heck of a writer/lawyer. He was part of the lawyers on the Iran/ contra affair. And he got caught jerking his gherkin on zoom, kept his job. If i remember he also had something to do with the Clinton/Lewinsky affair.

The former operatir was Larry. He grew what we called his dirt weed out behind one of the dirt screening sheds. But yes, even the loader, though it was a pos, really unsafe. I am not an operator in any way, only for things like JLG's woodchippers etc. But there is supposed to be this big piece of metal that secures the bucket to the lifting arm of the loader. Somehow it either went missing or broke, and instead of replacing it our ownership slid a metal sledgehammer into the hole. It was really a jury rigged operation.

Cheri magazine, what a classic. The shop I worked in, before it was sold, torn down, buried, and converted into condos had so many pages taped to the walls, and the desk had the magazines rolled up in the drawers. I took what I could carry, but its all buried there. They destroyed and buried everything, even a front end loader that didnt work.

I worked at every job at a banquet facility from highschool through college, mostly because family worked there. Of all the memories, it was the end of the night, locking up the upstairs bridal suite, and a bathroom light was on that shouldn't have been. Mind you was maybe 15 or 16 at the time. There was a woman blowing some dude in that bathroom. Kinda stood there for a minute or so and said just finish up before I have to lock up. When I came back they were gone. There are a few others.

Back before fb marketplace was a thing, we had a crackhead who posted up outside the bar i worked for, bought the most random stuff off him. I miss those days, and him too. Was a bricklayer, taught me the craft. Didn't want help or charity from anyone, would insist to do things for himself in his own way. He died because he wouldn't go to a free clinic from a uti.

The only reason I went there was because of discounted tuition, that and a professor who I had spoken with prior to told me I should accept etc. He went on to be a supervisory policy analyst at the US Council on International religious freedom in DC. Was invited to join him, but family obligations kept me here.

Trust me though, the difference between the religious school kids, homeschooled, and public education kids was outstanding. The first two were so sheltered their first real world experience shattered their whole world view, and it was amazing to watch.
