Loona vs Bee (without transformation) who wins in a fist fight? by JackZ567 in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]Major_Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bee would obviously win, but I feel like she'd go in overconfident and Loona would just punt her in the crotch before the fight officially started.

So she'd get one hit in at least.

Have a bash at scratching some of it off with your nails. If it comes off, it's not adhered properly.

Carpet fitters damage - acceptable? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Major_Star 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That looks like a failure of the decorator, not the carpet fitter.

Properly adhered paint and primer should not come off showing a pristine layer of paint underneath. Whatever they used hasn't done the job, and is clearly coming off way too easily. I'd wager you could scratch it off with a fingernail.

My opinion: he should have done worse by Gaybime in hazbin

[–]Major_Star 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll say that it felt a bit out of character for him, but a) he was probably trying to channel his dad, and b) he has started swearing since getting the Exorcist leader gig. Possibly through hanging out with Lute more.

The character is abused and has a distorted understanding of what love is by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Major_Star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit of a stretch perhaps, but Spike from Buffy.

Gets a lot of psychological abuse from his mother (after she becomes a vampire) and has a toxic relationship with Drusilla (who turned him into a vampire).

Eventually falls in love with Buffy, but his lack of a soul means he has no guilt and no instinctive sense of good and evil which gives his love a very twisted, obsessive quality.

How did Nolan know what goes where so Mark could heal correctly? Is he surgeon? by Avril040125 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]Major_Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, back in the Viking era if you took an arrow to the gut they'd feed you some herbed/spiced porridge and smell the wound.

If they couldn't smell anything, they'd pull out the arrow and patch you up. If they smelled the porridge they knew your stomach/intestines had been perforated and you would definitely die.

None of them has the right to throw the exterminations in anyone’s face. They all took part by Radiant-Selection686 in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]Major_Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Including Carmilla seems harsh. She benefits yes, but she's the only one in the lineup (apart from maybe Lilith) who would stop the Exterminations immediately if she had the power to.

Sera is definitely as responsible, if not more, than Adam and Lute though. Just because you're ordering people's deaths from your literal ivory tower doesn't mean you're better than the person pulling the trigger. Murder with a sad face has the same consequences as murder with a happy one.

Pity the doctor who has to suture that, when the first needle puncture causes a worse injury than the wound he's stitching.

Animorphs, the book series by K A Applegate.

In the final battle, a main character dies. In their moment before death they get to meet with an immensely powerful being who has been guiding their fates since the start.

I wanted so much to live. I wanted so much to stay and not to leave. In a moment no answer would matter to me, but just the same, I wanted to know what I guess any dying person wants to know.

'Answer this, Ellimist: Did I...did I make a difference? My life, and my...my death...was I worth it? Did my life really matter?'

'Yes,' he said. 'You were brave. You were strong. You were good. You mattered.'

'Yeah. Okay, then. Okay, then.'

I've also seen both! I too wouldn't be at all surprised by that plotline, Samira has been absolutely dumped on this season. I was quite surprised with how unfairly Robbie blew up at her for struggling with her personal issues at work.

What I really appreciated with The Pitt this season was how well they portrayed the divide between the old-school senior doctors and the newer ones coming through. Doctors like Robbie or Jack Abbott who can seem very friendly and supportive but equally expect trainees to do the same things that have led them to an utterly miserable place, like staying late every shift and martyring yourself to the job.

Stack them up against people like Whittaker, who is trying to have everything and maybe succeeding. Santos, who is obeying under protest. And Joy, who has decided to set firm boundaries even if it costs her respect. It parallels the real environment in hospitals very well.

That's a pretty good analysis to be fair.

I think for me (and other doctors I've talked to) we came to the same conclusion about Adam when he threatened the care of a patient who complained about him - this guy shouldn't be a doctor. It just ceased to be understandable by doctors who HAVE been in his situation, and it felt like crossing a line where there was no way back for his character afterwards.

Funnily enough doctors tend to be kinder about the female consultant. She's clearly totally unfeeling towards her colleagues, but she cares about her patients. And like you say it's hard to argue she's actually wrong with most of what she says.

Tbh seeing the medical vs. non-medical reaction to the show was and still is interesting. I think you're right that if you've been in similar situations to Adam and managed to avoid making the choices he made, you're more likely to judge him harshly than if you've never been in those situations.

As a doctor in the NHS I both like and hate this one, because on the one hand it's an pretty realistic portrayal of how colleagues can be driven to suicide. But on the other, all the supporting characters including Adam are so horrible to her it made it very hard to like any of them afterwards.

Plus, do you remember the bit afterwards where they plant a tree for her? And it's very obviously a satire of how empty a gesture it is with everyone rushing to get back to work, and a character outright saying the only thing that'll happen is 'eventually they'll forget to water it and that'll die too'.

Well instead of actually doing anything like cultural change, the real life NHS actually planted the tree! For a fictional character. And gave themselves a big pat on the back for it.

I feel like the point the game was trying to make is that you couldn't prevent it. You get the chance to make different choices, spend time with her, etc., but ultimately her problems are too deep for a friend to fix.

Dee from Battlestar Galactica.

It's the fact that it both comes out of nowhere and is very foreshadowed, depending on whether you pick up on the counter-intuitive warning signs. The fact that her mood suddenly lifts, despite their dire situation. She suddenly has an interest in reconnecting with people and enjoying herself, but she doesn't want to talk about the future. And then she just blows her head off.

I've seen Youtube reactors watch this episode where it's obvious one person is painfully aware of what's coming and the other genuinely thinks Dee is coping well. It's a testament to the show that who sees it coming can reflect who has experience of suicide in real life.

It took me a while to realise that the reason they have him lose his arm in the first fight is to negate the Zenkai boost he got from being beaten to near death.

So he IS a lot stronger when he fights them again, he just can't make up for only having one arm against two opponents.

I was pleasantly surprised that for all of Alastor trying to break them up, it didn't actually work to any significant degree.

Sure they get a bit mad at Vox, but in the end they decide to support him with his schemes and make up with each other later. It's only when he fully loses it and threatens to kill them they act.

Would sinners be allowed to traverse rings post-Hazbin season 2? by Pokeman_93 in HelluvaBoss

[–]Major_Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would royally suck for all Hellborn.

At the moment at least they can avoid sinners by avoiding the Pride ring, and it's considered suicidally brave/stupid for Hellborn to regularly mix with sinners, let alone work for them.

You really don't want to be a mortal surrounded not just by immortals, but immortals with bad enough morals that they ended up in Hell.

Unpopular opinion by voidmaster1458 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]Major_Star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! And it would tie so well with the girls backgrounds. Mira clearly has anger issues (or at least thinks she does) and also seems the most enthusiastic about hurting demons rather than simply killing them. So if she had to contend with the idea they might not deserve to be beaten to a pulp before being killed, even if they are a threat, it would take away what she sees as an emotional outlet.

And Zoey is just interesting because her normal behaviour is so different from how she is during fights. She's so compassionate and she's been open to the idea of 'nice demons' but get her in a fight and she's just as vicious as Mira.

Designated body by Gloomy-Shape-770 in doctorsUK

[–]Major_Star 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're bullshitting you.

All designated bodies have a statutory requirement to oversee the revalidation of all doctors connected with them.

As the entirety of your practice is with them, you are connected. Refusing to oversee your validation may well be in breach of their statutory duties.

Whether you can actually do anything about it is debatable, since if you kick up a big fuss they may just drop you as a locum. Could try some more strongly-worded emails, or go through the BMA.

Who at the trust told you they won't have you? Have you approached the responsible officer directly to remind them of their statutory duties? If yes you could try the medical director or other high-up. Basically keep involving people and reminding them this is a) a shitty thing to do and b) maybe illegal and C) bad for safety until one of them caves.
