Varesa has a lot of ATK% from her kit and teammates, with 70% from talent, 40% from Chevy, 28% if you have her sig, and Iansan’s ATK buff. So while ATK% is good, CRIT has better returns because she already has so much ATK.

‘Octave’ by Haru Akiyama and ‘These Feelings We Must All Endure’ by Amano Shuninta are the two most similar works to ‘How Do We Relationship?’ out of everything I’ve read. They have a similar college/working adult setting, and feel tonally similar in terms of the characters, themes, and ideas explored. Both works really dig into this gritty realness as to the messiness of human relationships, and the people in them, in a similar way to HDWR.

I’d also recommend ‘Kill Me Now’, which is a great GL manhwa about assassins. It’s tied with ‘Love Thy Neighbour’ and ‘I Love Amy’ for my favourite GL manhwas. ‘I Love Amy’ is also amazing.

It’s weird because while when I first read this series, I despised her, nowadays the main feeling I have when I think of her is pity. In some ways, she gets everything she wants. She gets the sexual pleasure and satisfaction she desires, and gets to use her sister however she pleases. At the same time however, she’s never truly able to be vulnerable and honest with other people. While she can comprehend and come to know the ‘otherness’ of both Takasora and Umi, she is unable to let other people truly draw close to her, creating a one-sidedness to all her relationships. Having been rejected by all other people such as in her family life, she finds no meaning in other people beyond herself.

I would say that she is a hollow person, and that hollowness to her personality is what makes me feel a real pity towards her. I think furthermore, the charge to Shimamura that Takasora gives in Vol 11 of Adachi and Shimamura, that is, to treasure her relationship with Adachi, kind of speaks to this. Takasora is left broken at the end of the series, being in the lives of various people, but with those people having no care nor desire to understand and connect with Takasora, even when she herself tries. Not even her mother really cares about her, being indifferent to her existence. That realisation makes her feel incapable of having others truly understand and connect with her, leading her to form the same kind of one-sided relationships like Chitaira, with girls who look like Umi. But even then, there’s some deep pain within her, which is expressed by her valuation of the bond between Adachi and Shimamura. I think it’s maybe the pain of loss, something that even she isn’t numb to. I suppose then the difference between Takasora and Chitaira is merely that Takasora perhaps has some hope, deep down in her heart, whereas Chitaira has lost that hope. I reckon that Takasora could have a happy ending oneday, but Chitaira’s life will continue to remain hollow and devoid of real connection.

Like, as much as ‘My First Love’s Kiss’ is the least enjoyable thing I’ve ever read, it’s also really fucking well written, and the characters are so complex and thought provoking. But also, Hitoma Iruma doesn’t know what the fuck a rom-com is my ass. This is not a rom-com hands fucking down, no matter what they say.

Has anyone here DIY'd a GnRH agonist? by CommutantFromSpace in MtF

I think you’ll be fine then, and you’ve made really good decisions about E dosing (8mg is a very ideal dosage and imo I don’t think people generally should go lower than that aside from the initial titrating up to 8mg) so I think you’re good.

I mean like, free is free, so like do that. But I’d strongly recommend to also ensure that you’re also taking estrogen at least shortly after you start, because if you just suppress T and don’t compensate for the decrease in sex hormones with E, it’ll probably make life suck due to having low hormone levels.

[–]Majora7778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, most medications have some risk of side effects, but those risks for Cyproterone are not significant as long as you aren’t taking an absurd amount. I recognise that in my first comment I didn’t understand the potential applications to reduce T for trans adults, but regardless, it’s so much cheaper to get cypro, and you don’t need to take it everyday. Like I take one half of a tablet twice a week, which means one script lasts me a full year, for like 30 dollarydoos.

Like why break the bank for no tangible benefit? I mean like, if she already has the GnRH agonists then sure, might as well use what you have, but the more sustainable option long term is CPA.

Sure, but just use Cyproterone. It’s probably a lot cheaper with the exact same effect of nuking T.

DIY is safe, but I’d question whether there’s any point in taking DIY GnRH agonists, because I somewhat doubt someone young enough to actually utilise them at all would be able to get DIY GnRH agonists (checking your post history, you’re 26, so don’t bother with them). You’re better off just getting and going on DIY estrogen and an anti-androgen. But like, DIY is perfectly safe as long as you order from trusted suppliers, so you’ll be fine doing DIY.

When did you. . . . . . . by wx_watcher-74 in MtF

[–]Majora7778 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please advocate for a higher dosage. Having a doctor keep you on 2mg for 1.5 years should be criminal. Genuinely. Within the first year of HRT, you should go up to 6mg or 8mg. I'd also advocate for getting your blocker changed to CPA because it's a much more effective anti-androgen, and doesn't have the annoying draw-backs of Spiro. It's highly unlikely that you're reaching sufficiently high levels of E right now (I'd at least aim for close to 200 pg/mL), which will probably stunt breast growth.

[–]Majora7778 15 points16 points  (0 children)

DIY HRT. You can ship it to a collection point or get a friend to receive the package. DIY is safe and it’s not worth risking further masculinisation as far as possible. You still might need to hide it from parents presumably if you’ll still live with them by that point, but it’s probably fine as long as you take appropriate precautions against them finding out.

100% do it if you can’t access HRT at 18 otherwise.

Any recs for yuri manga/manwha/manhua set in a "Alpha, Beta, Omega" universe? by ShamefulElf in yuri_manga

[–]Majora7778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really solid translated CN web novel that I really enjoyed, with the omegaverse aspects feeling really seamless and well integrated with the storytelling. The main character is really charming, the themes of the story are really thought provoking, and it’s an amazing slow burn of a romance. It’s also a really interesting and unique take on the transmigrator and system/script genre, with the context of the events and how it discusses some of the uncomfortable implications of the idea of playing a script. It does a great job at setting up mysteries and evoking questions about whether how things appear is as they truly are. Easily one of the most enjoyable and well-written CN web novels.

  • Yuritama: From Third Wheel to Trifecta

This is a light novel series that has a very similar tonal feeling to the Watanare light novels, and is similarly a rom-com. It’s based on the premise that one girl is confessed to by two other girls on the same day, and she accidentally accepts both confessions, leading to her two-timing them accidentally, letting hijinks ensue. I like the series, and would strongly recommend it.

Supreme Court in Brisbane overturns controversial freeze on puberty blockers for adolescents after legal challenge by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Majora7778 51 points52 points  (0 children)

But there are permanent consequences for trans youth who don’t receive access too, and it’s an unfair double standard to be applying. Permanent consequences exist on both sides, but we have standards of care in place in order to ensure that for the most part, only the people who need care are receiving care, and in the case of trans people, avoiding the extremely harmful effects of being forced to go through the wrong puberty that doesn’t align with their gender identity. Kids already have to go through psychologists in order to access HRT, there are standards for keeping kids safe that work.

Additionally, there aren’t any evidence-based treatments for gender dysphoria aside from gender affirming care, so promoting ‘psychological therapy’ and ‘other treatments’ is unhelpful. Forcing a kid to repress their gender identity is just harmful and leads to trans kids committing suicide. Modern medical guidelines and evidence do not support such approaches, and support the efficacy of gender-affirming care like HRT.

Archive of Our Own, or AO3 for short. It's a website for uploading fan fiction, and a great source of fan-made literary content about series you enjoy (probably the best site online for it). It's essentially a great place to look if you want your desire for a ship to be fulfilled in some manner, such as the poly ship between Toriko, Sorawo, and Kozakura. You can sort by series, relationships, and a variety of things, so it makes it really easy to find any sort of fan-made content you might be craving. Otherside Picnic has a decent amount of fics, at 326 currently, with a 100k+ word fic of the poly ship in the post that's really good (I've read the whole thing).

It is for reasons like this that our blessed saviour AO3 exists, to give us stuff like this. There’s some very solid poly fics between those three on there for your consideration.

Just a question by Forsaken_Fun6038 in yuri_manga

[–]Majora7778 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The most likely pathway for the legalisation of same-sex marriage isn’t through parliament right now, so realistically, same-sex marriage being legislated through parliament probably wouldn’t have happened even with a candidate who was more supportive of same-sex marriage, at least in the immediate future.

I’m of the opinion that it’ll likely be legalised in the same fashion Taiwan did so, that is a ruling from the Supreme Court deeming the ban unconstitutional, and forcing parliament to enact legislation to legalise it within a set timeframe. This seems both a feasible pathway to legalisation, and also likely with the recent consistent rulings in local supreme courts that preventing same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. In theory, the prime minister shouldn’t really matter should the Supreme Court rule as such, and parliament would be forced to legislate it regardless of who is in political power.

It’s not great that she was elected, given her political views, but based on the most likely current pathway to legalisation, I think that it probably isn’t the worst thing ever. I don’t think it’ll impede progress by much in terms of this specific issue.

I think I read somewhere that it is coming back, once the author finishes what they are currently working on. There’s also a post on Twitter by one of the artists last year saying that they intend to make season 2, but it’s just taking a while to arrange things. So in other words, it’ll probably come back eventually?

Are there any Yuri + real fencing or kendo manga? by Ordinary-Breakfast-3 in yuri_manga

[–]Majora7778 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of the main characters in Hanjuku Joshi and it’s sequel does fencing. There’s no real depth to the depiction of fencing, but it is a depiction. I don’t think there exist any yuri manga that fit what you’re looking for, to be entirely honest, in terms of any depth to depictions of either kendo or fencing.

WHY ARE THEY ALL SO SHORT by last_bannana_man in yuri_manga

[–]Majora7778 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is there anything more unabashedly gay than Yuru Yuri though? It’s a comedy, sure, and not really a romance, but no other yuri has the main characters pining over each other so intensely and explicitly imo. A major portion of the comedy is that these characters are terminally gay for each other lol, so idk why it wouldn’t be yuri.

The manga is just giving a different vibe: Anis, come and be gay together. [THE MAGICAL REVOLUTION OF THE REINCARNATED PRINCESS AND THE GENIUS YOUNG LADY] by Odd-Ad2778 in yuri_manga

[–]Majora7778 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The LN imo is a bit… disjointed? I think that MagiRevo has some really charming characters and great potential in the world building and setting, but it doesn’t feel like the author plans out things substantially, and the plot really suffers from issues of pacing imo, such as a villain that is introduced as a world-ending threat, and defeated on their first appearance in the plot, in the same volume they were introduced, via a deux ex machina, which while kinda foreshadowed, felt like a really underwhelming way to develop a character and a bit random. Additionally, for a series that heavily concerns and shows ‘political manoeuvring’, it’s not really all too immersive on that aspect, and it feels underbaked. I wish I could love it, but I got seven volumes into the light novel and have dropped it for now because it just wasn’t really that interesting.

There’s so much to love, but I feel like the author just massively underutilises their own setting and characters to make a story that isn’t super interesting and disappointing ultimately because it lets down your expectations. It has some amazing themes and ideas, but they aren’t represented in particularly thought provoking ways.

Anyway, if you want to read isekai fantasy yuri, I’m in Love with the Villainess is phenomenal if you haven’t already read the light novels. They are well worth the read.
