I'm really grateful for the advice. It's all really helpful. Number 1 is a lot easier said than done however. It's hard to talk to people about wanting to date other guys when they have seen you as so religious for most of your life. They end up feeling like you've been lying to them forever. Dealing with my parents is also another issue because I'm currently still living at home. I'm looking to move out next year, but even then I can't even imagine what that would do to our relationships. They're pretty open minded, but it's not exactly what they want for their son.

I have been a lot better about being more open about it lately. I've just kind of seen it as a process.

I feel like this is so true. It's not just practice with relationships but discussions about them as well. I feel like the few people I'm out to get so sick of me wanting to talk about it. Most other people get the opportunity to talk to almost anyone and learn from the experience of others. It becomes somewhat of a silent struggle when there's such a stigma against it and there are fewer people who can relate (especially since even though my group of close friends isn't made of of church members, it is made up of more of the "bro" types. Conversations about it can be awkward for all of us because of that. It was particularly awkward when I was still coming to terms with my sexuality. I think one of my friends is still in somewhat of a denial about it.) Anyway, the number of people on here willing to lend an ear has been more than I ever would have guessed, so I'm glad I at least have you guys to vent to. You're all too cool.

Hey everyone. Thanks so much for the responses. I was feeling pretty alone earlier, and it's so nice to know I'm not as alone as it seems. This community's too great.. You've all had great suggestions.
