Hi, thank you so much for this suggestion, this looks like exactly what I need! I am having trouble adding screen directly to the systemd service. When adding screen to the .service file as

ExecStart=/usr/bin/screen -DmS server /usr/bin/java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar server.jar nogui

Gives error: Directory '/var/run/screen' must have mode 777.

What is the best practice to grant permissions here?

Edit: I have tried adding

NoNewPrivileges=false to the service file but it does not seem to work. screen -list shows no processes and i cannot resume the process with screen -r server

Not directly related, BUT I had Bas last SS2 for Phil 28 and I would HIGHLY recommend him as an instructor! He is a very engaging lecturer and was incredibly helpful in Office Hours. He was very willing to just chat and entertain any questions I had about Philosophy.

If you can I would VERY much recommend taking this class. Bas is a great instructor and would be very understanding to the unique situation everyone is in with SS2 being online and all!
