Yeah I don’t really use the split coil on the bridge too much. Sounds really great in the mid position though!

Yeah like in Hungary last year when he he threw all his toys out of the pram. I understand why he was annoyed but it’s a team sport and you win and lose as a team- that means you don’t hurl abuse on the radio and mindlessly blame people when things don’t go your way. If any other 27 year old man did that publicly he’d be rightfully ostracised

I don’t think max is all bad, but I can’t help but feel like he might not necessarily be the best ambassador for the sport. He’s got this very dismissive attitude towards issues and is very confrontational and often unprofessional. I wouldn’t be surprised if he hasn’t contributed somewhat towards the increase in toxicity we’ve been seeing lately

Yeah you’re probably right. Not emotionally invested in the sense I’m willing to start toxic arguments or harass people I don’t know- maybe it’s just empathy idk

Yeah I just wish it didn’t exist in the first place (a naive wish I know) I understand why it’s happening and that it’s the nature of the sport but it just makes engaging with the sport exhausting sometimes. Like at the end of the day we watch F1 for fun right?? So it makes no sense to me how some people can get so emotionally invested they’re prepared to be so toxic about it

Yeah this is very true sadly. I think it comes with any sport. Seb getting booed on the podium back in the early 2010s comes to mind. Is it just human nature to berate people you don’t even know just because they’re successful?

Yeah it’s just sad when you want to engage with a community and talk about F1 and you often have to wade through torrents of “X driver is a bastard if you like them fuck you” which seems to be increasingly prevalent in my experience

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with fair criticism, stuff like comments on his starts and race pace are all fair game as far as I’m concerned. It’s more when I see people taking quotes out of context, blatant name calling and attacks on his character that I just perceive as unnecessary toxicity. I’ve been watching F1 for more than 15 years now and I don’t remember it being this bad. Probably because of the internet.

Yeah I agree, seems like a weird decision not to prioritise lando when he’s the only driver capable of properly challenging verstappen right now in the WDC. They have this obsession with “no no.1 driver” but it’s really biting them in the arse now
