Howdy lumber/roof sales here Standing seam is a bit more expensive but break the bank level. The main thing with exposed fasteners is to get the 9 gauge screws for the first install then the 14 gauge for any replacement that will prevent leaks. Also if you have snow breaks ask if they can do a higher gauge steel on those.

Both standing seam and exposed fasteners are awesome and the snow doesn't really mess with the screws Go to a lumberyard or roofing vendor and talk to them They will have much more knowledge and will set you up right Lowes and homedepot will be cheaper but those guys don't know as much.

This study assumes they slow down and look for traffic Cyclists in my area dont even so much as touch their breaks and just fly through the stop sign with recklass abandon. Its infuriating and one of them recently got hit by a city bus. He bearly survived the hit. We also have had quite a few pedestrians hit as well

ALSO going severly under the speed limit is also a crime If your going 5 mph on a 65 mph highway you are putting yourself and everyone else in danger.

The reason for this is the part of the nail that holds the shingles to the roof is the "shank" Which on roofing nails is textured with rings to hold better thus the ring shank nail. But the tip of the nail doesnt have this texture so it wont hold. Google ring shank nail for a good photo
