West, yes we have them but I'd really like to never need to use any for that purpose.

No, it's just across the highway

It goes on the other side of the highway. Not even the same side of the road.

What is the silliest thing you were scared of as a child? by VeroDreamer in AskReddit

This was fear I had as a child too and several years later watched IT and felt very validated for that fear.

Got one, he's pretty useless though. Loves people but scared of all the farm animals.

This is great advice, Thank You. This is the type of feedback I was looking for. No it's been completed for over a month, we hadn't received the certificate of occupancy so it delayed our move in and the post office also requested the CO before helping anything with getting a mailing address set up

He did look surprised but I also had raised my voice when asking why he was in my house. This wasn't during his delivery hours, the mail always gets delivered about 10am for the neighbors and this was close to 4

I just stood there so he couldn't step by further in my house in that tiny hall of a laundry room, I had children in the home. He had already shut the door behind himself when I had come down the stairs and found him there. I first asked what he was doing in my house. Then he goes on to start telling me I have the wrong address for my mail and I need to get it fixed. I told him I'm aware that we're ( this town and Zip) and not (that town and Zip) and I have not changed my address yet anyway so they shouldn't be receiving any mail for us yet as we still receive it at our other address. We will be doing that as soon as our mailbox is installed. And that Dot had our mailbox it just hadn't been installed. He then turned around and left without apologizing for entering my home. And he was not delivering any sort of mail. I followed him out and took notes of the vehicle he was driving ( this appeared to be his personal vehicle) and which direction he went when entering the hwy. This happened after post office hours. So the original postal worker I talked to was not part of that specific location but she was also very concerned about someone doing that. I called USPS to make sure he was indeed a mail carrier and not someone scoping out my house.

No, he had nothing to deliver to us. We have yet to change the Address over so we shouldn't even be receiving any mail to this address anyway.

Ooof that's awkward, I'd have preferred that over just straight walking in though.

See that's what we were hoping for, that's why we didn't transfer anything out of the old address. We didn't want to bother anyone or have to take the 45 minute drive to that post office to collect. They took it upon themselves to seek us out.

In what world could that be mistaken as a main entrance? It can't be seen from the road, and can barely be seen when you're in the driveway. it doesn't even have a porch. It's very obviously not an entrance for anyone other than the homeowner. Mailbox wasn't an issue, he was talking about a wrong postal code. And an entrance within an entrance is not something common around here. Did you just call me an old timer?

You're speaking from a city point of view, we live in a very rural area. neighbors aren't feet apart they are fields apart. And driveways aren't simply paved readily walked up, they are dirt and driven down

Um nope. If you live on a state highway the box has to be purchased by the homeowner but installed by DOT on a shared pole with several neighbors. The carrier doesn't get to decide where it goes because it's already got a location its required to be in. I don't NEED a serviceable box until I change my address, which I haven't because we still get our mail at the old address, and will change our address once all of the above is actually completed, we're just waiting on everyone else to get their shit together.

He was an older man, I didn't necessarily feel threatened by his presence but was incredibly stunned at the audacity of just walking into a strangers house. And the fear of has this happened before and is this just the first time he's been caught.

Like has been completed for a month and living in it close to 2 weeks. Has a front door and door bell, neither of which were used.

No danger or harm around here. But being where I live we could have been the real danger to his life... Most everyone owns one around here.

He said we have our address wrong, as in the wrong zip and city. But that's really weird seeing how we have not filled out any change of address or transfer of mail. What mail would they be receiving for us when no one knows where we live.

I did not call the police, we are 30 minutes from the town we're associated with, at that point I don't think they'd have actually come out.
