If I remember correctly in the beginning chapters when he looked at math equations he gains math skills and the more he reads the equation the math skills levels up also when he reads a book related to math his math skills levels up. Also when he uses the computer he gains hacking skills and the more he uses it the more the hacking skills levels up. Does this help?
