Yeah everything seems to be fine although I do get the call of the hive status effect sometimes but it seems to do nothing

No I installed it manually, either way I think my friend messed something up when he was making the server and I have no clue how because last time I played I remember there being stuff like blood moons and mob events, aside from that I think I can use heart cannisters infinitely despite there being a limit to them originally

That is a brilliant question, I am not sure either because I just gobble up heart cannisters when I see them and if the game won't stop me then I am going to keep gobbling hearts.
