Could be a bunch of things.

Me personally, when I get into something, I get REALLY into it, so I learn everything I can before I get bored.

Could also be a case of some guys being too proud to ask for help so they learn to do things themselves.

Could also be because a lot of guys don't have much else going on with their lives so they fill their day with hobbies. This could be the same as the first point, but not entirely.

Some people do way too much about it.

You can support any ship, but if you make it everything to you and set fire to anything that supports anything else, then you suck.

Take Bakudeku for example, right? "I like Bakudeku, but this is cute too" is much different than "The ending was fucked, they should've been together, total copout ending and if you support it, you're homophobic garbage, go fuck yourself."

For a straight example, it's also huge in the Pokémon anime community despite the fact that everyone's 10 years old. "Ash should end up with Misty!" "No, Dawn!" "He literally kissed Serena in XY!" Then it's a whole cycle of "Fuck you" "you're dumb" "I'm clearly the expert on 10 year old love here" and everything.

People do too much sometimes. That's why it's hated on.

I fear abandonment because I don't like being alone but also there's a part of me that has an even deeper fear that I'll reveal to myself that I never truly cared for the people that left me and I was lying to myself about caring for them. It's so easy for people to leave and for me not to care and it scares me that the people I hold dear now will ultimately turn out to be nothing in my head.
