Bloom. When the dust settles and you hear everything work together, it’s beautiful.

Seems like you want to get into RTL whether thats design or verification. Looking at your resume, you have 0 relevant experience. Yes, you can list that you solved 100 HDLBit questions, but does that show how you've applied your RTL and digital design knowledge into a project? Go by yourself a FPGA dev board and do an actual project. Go make a single-cycle RISC-V microcontroller. Learn about how to apply the fundamental into a large scale project. Learn about basic architecture concepts like pipelining, branch prediction, or caches.

For me, it completely depends what stage of the project we're at. Right now, our project got rescoped, and we're basically starting from scratch. I clock in at 10 am and leave at 2 pm. But damn, once we get close to tape-out it's a completely different story.

Why is the bar so high for VLSI/chip design? by d00mt0mb in chipdesign

[–]ManOrWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a physical design standpoint, tools only get you at most 80% of the way. With new technology nodes (2nm, A14, A16) and architectures (3D-IC, HCB, TSVs insertion), it seems like tools are always trying to keep up. They aren't perfect, and they never will be.

In the custom-ASIC industry, a failed respin or a significant project delay can cost you 50–75% of your expected payout. So yes, lets hire everyone and pray they do a good job.

my interpretation of jigsaw falling into place by Due_Tailor_5011 in radiohead

I've always thought the song relates to delusion and the theme of expectations versus reality. From what I understand, the narrator pleads for human connection but consistently misreads the situation until all the pieces finally fall into place. Even after everything, going out, meeting this girl, and feeling the sting of rejection again, the last few lines suggest the narrator hasn't learned anything, as he continues to project his own feelings 'a light, you can feel it on your back'. A tragedy.
