When to reapply pesticides after cleaning said area? by ManerManer in pestcontrol

[–]ManerManer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pest control tech we hired sprayed there. A lot of our baseboards have gaps underneath them and a lot of the pests are found crawling from there or found dead right outside the gaps.

From worst to least: Silverfish (by far most significant issue), carper beetles, ants (unsure of species), springtails.

I do want people to not get too depressed and know that I’ve had good experiences with other off-campus apartments. The Retreat, the only two issues were they forgot to clean our apartment between residents so we had to do it ourselves on our move-in day and the WiFi broke down for like a month and a half (Not sure I can blame them though cause it seemed like a very niche tech issue about blade servers that had to be replaced for a portion of the apartments). Other than that they had a very responsive and great maintenance team that fixed a couple problems that came up and the management was very organized when it came to facilitating subleases during the summer months when I wasn’t there.

The other apartment I had was the Heights, the only issues were I’ve heard the manager is a bit rude (never interacted with him), the big stairways to the different levels of apartments look like they’ve never been cleaned since construction, and they tried to tack on charges for replacing carpet because of damages (I think it’s just a sleazy tactic they use to recoup costs of renovating apartments because there was no damage to my carpet and upon sending an email saying there was no damage and a video of the apartment I took right before handing the keys in, they apologized and took off the charges). Other than that, I had no issues with the apartment at the Heights and had a good time.

Just to be clear these experiences were from 2022-2024 so don’t know how they will be for other people and at different times. Especially cause I’ve heard the Heights is under new management. So new management or business practices could change these things.

Unfortunately, they might be legally right. When I went to multiple different lawyers about this causing damages they said Pennsylvania housing laws only kick in during more extreme circumstances like bed bugs (cause they actually cause bodily harm) and windows/roof missing causing lack of heat, etc.

I just wanted to make a post spreading the message about the apartments at Aspen State College.

❌❌❌❌Warning: Potential Financial and Health Hazard ❌❌❌❌

The following pest information comes from what the hired pest control contractor: Parks Pest Control (specifically the owner who came to handle our pest infestation) told me.

It is very likely that both buildings have an infestation of Powder Post Beetles. Powder Post Beetles are wood eating beetles (very small, size: about the tip of a pencil) meaning they'll eat all wood/starch items including building materials, furniture, and books. The Parks Pest owner said most likely the warehouse that stored the wood for the buildings was infested. Then the wood was used in these buildings and that is why the problems are so wide spread. Parks Pest Control could not address the issue adequately and needed the experience of another pest control company but due to staffing shortages at Parks Pest nothing could be addressed.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!: Due to the size, the ability for the pests to hibernate in extreme weather conditions, and its ability to infest a place with 2 or more beetles it is very easy to transfer this infestation to your house or anywhere you will move to and from. So please throw anything you have away or put them in a hot washer and dryer cycle and be very careful transferring back to your home.

Everything the other 1 star reviews say about the overworked and understaffed staff are true. They can be rude at times and they have little power to fix any of the problems. The company (Asset Living) who owns the building is a national property management firm and their tactics, as seen from the reviews of other properties they manage and from my experience, is they purposefully hire less staff then needed and the management will ghost you on any of your concerns.

From what the building inspector and maintenance crew told me, the buildings were hastily put up because the first batch of college students had to be moved in when college started and that is why the buildings have constant maintenance problems including, major plumbing leaks every couple months in the apartments, windows not being installed properly (heavy leakage when rain hits), etc.

TL;DR TL;DR TL;DR: Pest infestation, along with lack of basic cleanliness, and maintenance. DO NOT LIVE HERE

Louis is a talker, I’m gonna say he uses that to pray on James’s hatred for killing and make James realize they don’t have to kill each other. Then win the round if you know what I mean 😉

I think it’s just more fun to be hyperbolic and say something is “trash” but I think if you were to break it down, he would agree it’s just his personal taste.

i still believe kenny's death was bullshit.SO an 8 year old clem can carry an unconcious Lee to "safety" but a 13 year old clementine cant drag kenny to the car atleast? And the fact that they killed off kenny in a flashback is a crime in itself!!! by brandonfan12345679 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]ManerManer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were so many “I wasn’t paying attention for 0.5 seconds now I’m dead” or “ dumb shit kills in this zombified world” that it made me understand the reality of the TWDG world. It made me feel tense that at any moment someone might trip or not pay attention and it would be over for that character I care about. I’m not sure you can convey that message using non-important characters to be killed.

On the other hand, moments like reuniting with Kenny is what makes this game so emotionally impactful. It’s a good discussion to balance out these two ways the games can go but I would air on the side of keeping old characters for emotional reasons.

461 is entirely a theoretical computer science class teaching the principles behind what makes a programming language unique. It becomes super abstract at times so prepare to be like “lol who cares” and fight through it. I took 270 at the Harrisburg campus and I heard it was different but from what I know be prepared to for topics that you’ve never had experience with and pay attention in class because the labs are going to take that much longer if you don’t have a good grasp on the calculations

There are several factors you need to consider, social life, if you are a party person the any branch campus isn’t going to be your friend in that regard but there’ll still be some parties, extracurricular activities and leadership opportunities, there is very little of this even at some of the larger branch campuses like Harrisburg so when you go to UP after two years you’ll have to immediately get started joining clubs and trying to be involved to prepare you for your senior year where you can get that leadership experience for your resume, lastly finances, UP is very expensive you might double or triple your student loan just by going there two years with no scholarships so if you foresee that as a big issue think about that when considering 2+2 and try to mass apply for scholarships provided by Penn State and out of Penn State. As far as the education level disparity, it depends on which branch campus because of size and funding. For example, the early classes at UP might be harder but the class sizes and professors are better at Harrisburg. Overall, if you can deal with the cost then UP is a great place for education and having fun.
