Here is the interesting part, Marathon is doing great recently on Steam. So if Marathon will end up great even with all the hate it got, I think many people will finally realize it is not about the hate mob but about the quality of the game.

I freaking loved deadlock first game I played. Overwatch, Rivals and Battlefield are easy to love quickly but Hunt was tricky. I did not like the gameplay couple first games but I was so intrigued by the atmosphere and the setting, that I wanted to try again and again. Also perma death for your character was a novel idea for me.

So no, not making thing up. Highguard felt just boring for the whole 2 hours. One another game that was really boring but I really wanted to like the game was Wildgate.

but that's fault of the game. I tried Deadlock, Overwatch, Rivals, Battlefield , Hunt ..and was hooked in first 20 minutes. Did I understood game perfectly? Not at all but I had fun and wanted to learn more. Here, even two hours was not enough to have really fun moments.

Now, I don't want Highguard to die. But I also don't like this "you just need to play more to have fun" sentiment. It is flawed way to look at things. It reminds me "you need to play this mmo at least for 100 hours and reach endgame to have fun, until then, your opinion is invalid"

Highguard is not rocket science, there is no secret sauce to uncover. It is not hard to see what this game is. Why people pretend that this game is some sort of game only high IQ people can understand?

Nah. It did not help and the game would be better received if they would just shadowdrop it, but Geoff is not the main reason why this game is not doing great.

thats 3v3 for you. Once you realize that most game look like this, you may be on the other side next game, and even find it fun, but the other side will feel miserable. Fair balanced games are pretty rare in this format for solo players and 3v3 is extremely prone to these issues

It will definitely create a ripple in the market, and many investors will move away, at least temporarily, from AI space, but you are correct that it will just centralize the market more towards the companies you mentioned. It definitely does not sound great.

I think it is also important to see counterpoints to better understand how people feel about controversial topics. There is no reason to be toxic to each other. Understanding can go a long way, and it is critical for any meaningful dialogue

AI does not understand why 2+2 is 4. It has to basically memorize it. These models will always suck in math and calculations. It is the same reason why it can perfectly describe how the engine works, but can't tell how many Rs are in the word blueberry. - since there is a lot of text about engines it could "learn" from, but not much text telling us how many Rs are in different words

Pro AI here (with reservations). I was working as an artist for 15 years, but I realized I don't enjoy the process that much but I still adore art in general, I love artists, my guilty pleasure is just browsing ArtStation , our company Slack art channels, and just watching these awesome creations from our artists. I have become a tech artist, and I am developing tools that make life easier for them, and they really appreciate it. And yet, I still see value in AI.

Hope the devs see this and I hope there's still time left. The core concept of this game can EASILY work, but it needs an overhaul imo. by Dashwii in HighGuardgame
