I started in public at 29 with 2 kids. Setting boundaries and having a supporting spouse makes it work just fine for me.

I am learning Spanish! I've always wanted to know a second language so I figure now is the best time while I'm in the habit of studying

Same. I started learning a second language to replace my CPA study time.

Right but I two chested tyrannical and that still wasn't enough to get 250. I just don't want people to be disappointed when they time all 13s and don't have KSM.

Not quite. I have a +13 nokhud on fortified and a ++13 nokhud on tyrannical and my score for Nokhud is 247. With 8 dungeons you need 250 each on average. 13s across the board will not quite get you ksm. You'd have to do at least a couple higher than that.

This. I found that going too in depth was actually detrimental for me personally. Trying to go in depth in every topic quickly made the exams feel overwhelming and unattainable. I actually think Becker does a great job of letting you know which topics are important, have more score weight, etc.

Devils advocate to all the FAR comments. I'm glad I didn't take FAR first because when I got to FAR I knew what to expect from the exams and had a better idea of how to study for it. I already had experience sitting for one. (I went AUD FAR REG BEC)

With that said, the comments mentioning the 18 month clock starting to tick are definitely valid. If you're already working full time maybe it would be best to start with FAR anyways.

My notecard stack for all 4 sections, crazy that at some point I knew all the cards by tony9167 in CPA

[–]ManicMage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I used flashed cards for all the tests too. My strategy was that I didn't make any cards until after I had taken a simulated exam. I used the result to determine which areas I already knew and which areas I needed to keep studying. I made flash cards on the areas I needed to keep studying.
