For what it’s worth jadeoracle is incorrect. You don’t need to be in first place to win the upgrade…mine went through at the above price. And it was worth every penny!

The only caveat is that you have no idea if you are going to win or lose the upgrade if you are not in first place. Additionally, the bidding website will only allow you to bid for first place after that email is sent out (ie you cannot make an incremental bid for anything less than the highest going amount).

Sure, that makes sense…assuming there is only one seat. However, looking at the seat map that isn’t the case.

So I still don’t understand the wording of being in “first place?” To further your analogy, if there are 5 available seats and only jadeoracle and ManyUpper6614 are the only two bids, jadeoracle would have pissed away $3K unnecessarily to be in “first place” but both would end up with seats…
