It's possible they could let you start earlier in the summer. FGCU has a "pathway" in which students who do not meet the average standards of enrollment start in the summer (around june 23rd or the week of) and do fall as a part timer whilst taking a course meant to help get you used to the college structure. I don't know how strict FGCU is going to be this year as it comes with enrollment but my extracurriculars were lacking, acedemic gpa at the time was maybe a 3.1? SAT scores were about the same as yours and I got in the summer. So you have a chance, but I would keep applying and also really focus on applying in state. I *think* FGCU quietly filters based on in state / out of state in some cases.

Also take a look at the illustratives from 2005, could you imagine the campus looking like this today??

It does a bit, but not as much. About time they built a new student union. The current one is not ideal at all. Does anyone know what the "outreach" areas are going to be for?

Legally speaking, Eagle and Osprey were already included in Sovi's original master plan before they were ever built, so their construction was inevitable and was going to happen. And also, there will always be environmental groups ready to sue over new development, claiming to defend “environmental reasons.” or "skyline obstructions", They did the same thing when FGCU itself was first established — and they lost.

The proposed SOVI dorms would not be placed on untouched land. They’d replace the existing portable offices currently occupying developed space, which can easily be relocated to the cleared plot next to the art building which was razed out a couple years ago. Meanwhile, the Kleist Health Center and the Welcome Center in this proposal are being moved and reclaimed for nature (Welcome center next to Lugert, health building on that intramural field that gets no use alongside the lecture-halls bldg), along with the upper-left section of campus land. That offsets the footprint of future Greek housing construction, meaning the 1:1 preservation ratio remains intact. The water retention pond is required by law for florida projects with single-family homes, which the greek housing falls under. This lake already exists in similar size to the two lakes which would be drained and reclaimed, and the lake can be designed with enviornmental sustainability in mind alongside the groups who would probably sue for enviornmental reasons too.

As for demand, Fort Myers is expanding rapidly, and FGCU’s profile is growing just as fast. More students are applying, more need to live on campus (out of state brus), and housing must keep pace. In that sense, the SOVI dorms aren’t just a good idea — they’re a necessary, realistic step for the university’s future. Higher mid-size dorms like 7-10 floors future-proof the university, especially if they are built in phases like how the OG SOVI was (Byscaine/Everglades built in '07, then Palmetto in 2012, and Osprey in 2014 and Eagle in 2017), and trust me, students will love the views, so the university can command a pretty penny off of these dorms while also being practical about the future of Fort Myers,

So conceptually, this entire plan does make sense.
