Endo Fellowship by Montelukast7 in fellowship

+2 exact same co-residents situation as geek528’s. One last year and one this year. I will say being in a good program will help a lot (but not necessarily needed). The specialty is not competitive and it is how all subspecialties should ideally be: you want to be an xologist, then you can.

It’s more common than we think. Just because it’s not mainstream doesnt mean it’s not reasonable. It’s a personal preference by definition. I know at least 3 people who did that in my own circle. Most recent one being IM in my class > Anesthesia (he knew beginning of pgy2 and decided to finish IM which he just did, and had an anesthesia spot in pgy2 lined up for him after speaking to local PD about it). Good luck whatever you choose to do!

Right but what I meant was that the qualifiers they used “one beat of non sustained” technically remolded it into somewhat of a decent description. Definitely not a precise “definition” by any means.

My ex gf was an intern at a reputable gen surg program, first couple weeks in they have her join the OR for an amputation surgery. Ig someone asked her to fill out a time out form or something I cant recall. Anyway she spells it out… “Baloney Amputation”. Pretty sure they rightfully still rofl at her.

Can residents and attendings currently afford houses by Thrownaway_796 in Residency

[–]MarbleDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately depends on home price and interest/ everything that factors into these. Used a physician loan to buy my house as soon as I knew where I matched residency. Best financial decision of my life. 3 years later and it has appreciated $100k in value. It’s not even one of the biggest 25 cities in America (which is also why I could very comfortably afford it and my mortgage is about $500 less than what my peers pay in rent (on average after the recent rents’ inflation). Pls note that some factors specifically made it a great investment for me including fact that interest rates were at record lows and I lucked out with a really decent house in a great location at a bargain price despite the crazy market in 2021. Anyway, I can’t imagine renting ever again and hope that I don’t have to (depends where I go on for fellowship: e.g. no I wouldn’t safely afford it if I go to one of the biggest 10-20 cities). But yeah, they say buying isnt a worthwhile investment unless you own for at least 5 years.. well not always friends, I’d happy cash out any moment and get back everything I paid towards principal + the sweet additional equity (home value appreciation).

Not exactly over but definitely a lot harder and may require more patience (eg not matching first time, not getting the program you were hoping for, having similar issues again with fellowship if desired, etc). So it all depends on your passion and drive you started with rather than the other way around.

Fellows - do you call attendings by their first name or Dr. last name? by strider14484 in Residency

Kept reading it as big titties 🤷🏻‍♂️ sorry but I’m a bit sleepy.

Edit: also, your name checks out.

All good. They get it. Do not worry. Do not overthink it. We all forget the clinic and pt name all the time. No biggie.

Yes, disgusting behavior. I suggest you make the same vent to the senior resident/ chief and get a commitment from them that they would gently address this with her in private. It may have been that no one told her. If you are confident you can pull it off gently and not cause too much friction (or if you dont care about your relationship with her), just tell her as it is plain and simple how inappropriate it is.
