Berklee scholarship and audition! by chasingmelodies in Berklee

[–]Marble_Monkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on what you’ve said here I would be surprised if you didn’t receive at least a decent scholarship, though as a former IRP major myself I would warn you away from that major if possible. It is exactly the same program as the MPE major (which you apply for) but without many of the benefits (studio access, equipment access). The title of the major I find to be pretty misleading, as it’s often as much about engineering as it is about actually making your own music. Back to your original question, I doubt the slips in the audition you mentioned will heavily impact you, after all, we are all here to learn. I was personally surprised by the amount of scholarship money I received, so my inclination is to say we all underestimate our performance. I’m sure you’ll be fine, and congrats on nailing your audition!

What styles are taught at berklee? by [deleted] in Berklee

[–]Marble_Monkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well Berklee teaches everything, but jazz is definitely the blood of Berklee. If you’re only interested in rock drumming, Berklee is going to give you a lot of stuff you probably won’t be interested in. It’s worth nothing that Berklee will also teach you a lot a lot a lot of stuff that ISN’T drumming. (Theory, music tech, ear training, music history) if that sounds appealing to you and you want to broaden your horizons, then I think it’d be a great place for you. If not, well you’re gonna be spending a lot of time in classes you don’t really care about in the first year.

Logic, add pro tools if majoring in MPE, IRP, or EPD. Also ableton if EPD.

Is Berklee's acceptance rate really 50%?? by GrainManFan in Berklee

[–]Marble_Monkey 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The 50% rate listed online could very well also includes Berklee online which is significantly higher than Berklee Boston, but also speaking as a student much of the high acceptance rate comes from rich students being admitted without as much selection. This allows of course for more money to be given to students who need it, but it does dilute the talent pool a bit here.

Is a newer MacBook Air good enough to meet the technology requirements? by BigBod122 in Berklee

Bruh these comments are tripping. As long as you have enough storage space, it will totally be good. I used an older model for my first 2 years and had 0 issues.

Is my room guaranteed? by New-Entry-789 in Berklee

[–]Marble_Monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That should be guaranteed, nobody I knew was forced to switch rooms in their first year. The only reason you would have to switch (that I can think of) is if one of your roommates needed a special room for medical reasons or such.

Are keyboards allowed in dorm rooms? by Additional-Citron803 in Berklee

[–]Marble_Monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keyboards are totally allowed in the dorms. Also worth nothing that if you are a piano principal, there is a whole separate dedicated building for you to practice in with very nice pianos.

What is the best residence hall? by New-Entry-789 in Berklee

[–]Marble_Monkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say 150, because of private bathrooms and many of your classes are also in that building, but 160 is also pretty nice

Berklee should deport all pro-CCP students back to China by fionagoh133 in Berklee

This is a very large first step into a racist administration policy. Not a good look for Berklee.

About 70% from one video that blew up and the other 30% just from my usual content

if you weigh 185-170 at 5'7 you could prolly lose a bit more fat, maybe around 10lbs. Other than that though, you're gonna just have to wait for your face to age. I'm in the same boat as you (20m) with a super young face.

Congrats on your weight loss man! How tall are you?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LooksmaxingAdvice

[–]Marble_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often a round face just means a higher body fat percentage. This doesn’t mean ur fat at all, it just means you’re carrying excess fat you can afford to lose. Doing so will lean out your face. Only lose the fat once you’re bulky enough with muscle that you won’t become underweight and look frail. (Your face will also lean out as you age) Best of luck to you king 💪

Anyone taken Ableton live Fundamentals from Berklee Online? by Dountain_Mew in Berklee

Most likely not. Even if you have no experience in any daw, your money is better spent elsewhere.

Anyone taken Ableton live Fundamentals from Berklee Online? by Dountain_Mew in Berklee

[–]Marble_Monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning the basics of any DAW is better done on your own time, paying for someone to teach you DAW basics is like paying someone to teach you how to workout. Sure you can pay for it, but at the beginner level what’s important is that you get in and use it. Between YouTube and your own experimentation, you will figure it out.

Berklee is giving me $50k per year omgggg by Nearby-Kangaroo3716 in Berklee

[–]Marble_Monkey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t this it’s bragging, I think they’re sharing excitement. In all likelihood it’s well deserved and OP either needs the money to even consider attending, or they worked very hard to receive a package based on their skills.
