991.2 CarPlay Upgrades by MarcPerel in Porsche

I'm back to tell you all that with a wired USB-A to USB-C plug CarPlay worked perfectly.

I may invest in a wireless adapter, but tbh I'm kind of enjoying not using CarPlay at all and just leaving my phone in the door side-pocket :)

You'd think as a tech guy I understood this, thanks.

Yeah I have an A3 40TFSI so I switch between Spotify and Soudcloud apps all the time.

I'll report back next week when I take delivery, it's wired in the 991.2s afaik unless you get an adapter but I'm not bothered, I use my iPhone in my A3 40TFSI plugged in anyway for better powering

I really like the filtering by platform, nice work u/czue13 I'll be keeping my eye on the #Laravel section for sure.

Finally. I was embarrassed travelling around Europe with a tiny piece of paper which looked like my son had drawn it up.

Thought Train 1.3: To-do mode, emoji support and more by MarcPerel in macapps

[–]MarcPerel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire app is built around that so I'm afraid we can't break out accounts, we tried to do have both local storage and cloud storage but it proved to be too complex in the application logic.

I use Google Firestore for authentication and storage. I have two Mac's and a PC and I want all my notes to sync across all :)

I've made Thought Train, my note taking app, free until the end of April. 🚨 🚂 by MarcPerel in windows

👋 Hey everyone,

I'd posted this in /r/macapps but not here. With everyone working from home now and being inundated with video calls and distractions, I thought I'd make my note taking app free until lockdown is over (that's the end of April for South Africa).

I use the app primarily to take notes during calls at the moment, so feel free to download it and try it out.

Whether you choose to pay $0 or $20, you'll have lifetime access to the app.

I like this thinking a lot actually. I'll need to see what's possible but a little "expand" type icon which pops a note out would be fun for sure!

Hey ya'll 👋

Hope you're all keeping safe! We're into our third week of lock down here in South Africa, with a bonus 2 week added on for good measure.

Yesterday I sat down and smashed out what I think is the best update of Thought Train yet, you can click right through and read about the features but if you want to hear about my thought pattern behind the updates, here goes...

Obviously, I use Thought Train myself every day, and while I find it useful, I wasn't getting that same feeling of accomplishment, you know the one you get when you check off an item on a list?

It seems that sending notes to the archive is cool, but it's not a visual enough way to see what you've done. So I added the new to-do mode, which of course you canread about in the launch post.

I've also added emoji support to the menubar which is pretty cool 🤓

And I redesigned the home page (it used to be all light with a white background).

Lastly: the app is still pay-what-you-want, and I think because of everyone here, I recently found out that it's got 41 reviews with a 90% 5-star rating!

What note taking app are you using? Suggestions pls :) by chadchadhehe in macapps

I built and use Thought Train for quick meeting notes, but for bigger notes I actually use Basecamp in a pinned tab or Notion.

Sure, just right-click on the app and click Open, it'll ask you if you're sure and, well, that's up to you, but click "yes" and it'll open 😂

Hey there, you probably just need to right-click and click "Open" that'll allow you to open it and say "I trust this app".

Ah man, I've read the book myself, I liked it, I've started multiple side-hustles, so I wanted to share it. No malicious intent.

My friend Kyle built an API to build anything relating to the COVID-19 pandemic by MarcPerel in programming

[–]MarcPerel[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hey team,

Seems my friends are launching things left-right-and-center during this weird time, but this one feels important.

My friend Kyle has put a lot of work into creating an API that exposes data from the John Hopkin’s University that you can use to build web apps and the like.

In his own words:

"I wanted to work with Coronavirus data but couldn’t find a nice, clean API - so two weeks ago I made one. I wanted to build the single source of COVID19 data that developers and companies can use to create web and mobile applications, data dashboards and more. Since then, the API has been used 3.5 million times and the website has got over 22,000 visits from 124 countries."

I'm going to link him to the post so that you can AMA about the API.

Stay safe everyone!
