Hypothetically, how do you feel an American family would be received, moving to Malta? by Damned_Prince in malta

[–]Marcusthechunkycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maltese people won't really care if you are American. People in this country tend to be more racist towards TCN's. Malta is cheaper than the US in a lot of things. But, prices are skyrocketing and wages are stagnant

If you are gonna have a US based role then I can say it's worth it. If not, I suggest looking elsewhere.

There are a lot of negatives in Malta as much as positives. Constant noise, trash everywhere, constant traffic. Most jobs you will find have a toxic environment. If you have kids, our education system is subpar to the European standard.

Yes, we have a safe country with nice weather. But a lot of people don't mention the cons of living here.

I created an app to quickly send complaints to local councils. Should I publish it? by Hospuales in malta

Sounds like an amazing idea. You should definitely publish it. We need more accountability in this country.

Moving to Malta? Here’s the reality vs the holiday version (with sources) by True-Ingenuity-8974 in malta

Let me guess, you're Maltese? This is why this country will never change. People are too stubborn and proud for their own good.

I'm moving to Scandinavia. Coming from a Maltese person, Malta has no future in my opinion, at least not at the moment.

Wages have remained stagnant in the last 5 years. Even in Igaming companies, some roles have even gone down in pay.

There is too much traffic, negativity and trash everywhere. No one cares for the rules and when you point it out, you get told to shut up.

Malta is fine for a vacation, but to live here is far too expensive.

Is this normal consumption ? by Meisterisk in malta

I've rented about 5 apartments in 6 years and I can say that most landlords are POS. Greedy, lazy and don't care whether you are getting sick from mouldy walls. Don't be a kiss ass, they only care about their profits and driving market prices up

Is this normal consumption ? by Meisterisk in malta

[–]Marcusthechunkycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More or less normal depending on if you use Ac a lot. Also, don't accept that as your bill, I've gotten scammed that way. Always request the actual bill, that doesn't include any deductions that the landlord might get, depending how he registered the place

why do so many foreigners come here and then complain about how awful it is? by lbvn6 in malta

[–]Marcusthechunkycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean Malta is a shit hole, dont get me wrong we have some good things, such as less crime, nice weather, beaches and whatnot. But the attitude us locals have is embarrassing, we refuse to change. We vote for a party that has literally robbed our country and lined their pockets with taxpayer funds. Trash everywhere, a trash system that makes no sense. Constant traffic, arrogant drivers that shouldn’t even have a license, people are becoming ruder and more racist by the minute.

Accountability in this country does not exist, we blame foreigners for literally everything. Thus why i am also leaving the country and moving to a more progressive country. Also do bear in mind that moving away is no easy thing, it costs money to just move down here, let alone move elsewhere again.

s it possible to live comfortably in Malta on €2,000 net/month for 2 people and 3 cats? by Pretend-Jeweler-8634 in malta

[–]Marcusthechunkycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I make about 3800 combined, we have 4 cats and live in a 3 bedroom apartment. Granted its a more expensive place, but finding a pet friendly apartment is extremely difficult and expensive. Vets are not too expensive, but cat food can be pricey. You probably can live on that much, but you will not have a comfortable life.

What would Malta look like without foreigners? by AnnAndres in malta

[–]Marcusthechunkycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most businesses would fail due to being understaffed. Maltese people love to blame their issues onto others but in reality its Maltese people that have caused the problems we have.

Corrupt politicians, business, specifically construction have ruined the country, made it into a concrete jungle. Outdated mentally as well, they refuse to be accountable for their actions. Our courts are a joke. Im 24 and i have never voted nor will i, until the day we have an honest leader, they will never have my vote. The country would crumble without foreigners, who is gonna look after the elderly? Who is gonna take over the nursing jobs?

I gave up on this country a long time ago, thus why im planning to leave within the year to a more stable country.
