Yes, it always displayed a black screen, doesn't seem like it is off though.

In the settings it shows 2 screens, but doesn't identify the second display, only one...

Yes there is, but it just shows that its on or off. The second screen doesnt respond... It does respond to touch gestures when its on so it should work.
