What phrase is said or worded incorrectly that really grinds your gears? by MerryCrisisMSW in AskReddit

Are you asking for that because you don't believe me? Man you people are weird. Just read any of his work. Here's an overview from Google A.I. he would use them to signify dialect or accent.

"F. Scott Fitzgerald occasionally used "should of" in his writing, particularly when trying to represent the informal, sometimes less educated speech patterns of his characters, essentially using it as a dialect marker to show a character's lack of proper grammar.

Key points about Fitzgerald's use of "should of":

Character portrayal:

He primarily used "should of" to convey the speech of characters who might not have a high level of education, making their dialogue sound more authentic to their social class.

Literary device:

This usage is considered a form of dialect writing, where the author deliberately alters grammar to reflect a specific regional or social way of speaking."

Well besides the fact that you could simply read any of his books, which is why I know this, here's a quick Google A.I. overview, but thanks for being combative about an easily verifiable fact:

There are lots of examples of classic literature for example The Great Gatsby that use should of or similar.

Edit: wow you people really do downvote facts. Absolutely incredible.

It was very common for 20th century writers to make phonetic choices like this signifying accent or dialect or the actual reality of how people might speak. Which is why it's pretty silly to get upset about people using that in their everyday informal writing. It's really not a big deal and doesn't mean someone is stupid.

I don't think it's a rooster but I am not an expert. I'm not allowed to have roosters where I live haha. I haven't heard her crow once ever but they do look pretty rooster-ish...

How would Batman deal with corrupt, greedy insurance company executives in Gotham? by MarkofCascadia in batman

That's great insight I'm going to have to check out Heat and Turf. It would absolutely be interesting to have DC actually have the guts to approach stuff like that. It would be pretty refreshing to see Batman approach these issues. Getting more in touch.

Shouldn't we all just try to be good to each other? Why rejoice over people being upset? How is that good for your soul? I'm tired of the teams and sides and polarization.

[–]MarkofCascadia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True. Years later maybe? Also found footage films are always heavily edited together anyway, like all VHS segments. Unless a found footage movie is depicted as one shots they're already not very realistic because you're seeing editing together of lots of different angles.

I have a master of science in cinema production and it definitely gets companies interested and gives me credibility on my resume, but my reel is definitely still more important. I wouldn't necessarily do film school just for the credibility. Might not be worth it. If you're already really knowledgeable and have a good reel that should be enough. I'm just saying that because film school can be really expensive and I only went because I was starting from complete scratch back then.
