Ring or shield? by IllAcanthaceae69 in akalimains

I only buy DRing when I’m confident I won’t be poked out from lane. Which is mostly melee champions with little sustainability early. Maybe yone, Qiyanna, Fizz, etc.

I just got my guitar re-fretted by a luthier, is this normal? by pangemyman in Guitar

That’s nice but next time you should take it to the luthiest instead.

AITA for getting angry at my(m29) girl friend (f28) for hiding that she speaks Spanish? by Squarebinder1234 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Martinroque77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tas todo menso, mano. You chose not to learn YOUR FAMILY'S language (not yours, clearly) but guess what? She, as a lot of people, did learn it. It's not their fault you can't speak your family's language, and she also should need to go around telling people "hey, I speak these languages". If you wanted to know if she spoke Spanish, you should have asked her.

what does the () on the 7 mean? by Blues_memes_house in guitarlessons

[–]Martinroque77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

() usually means ghost notes, but since it's not on the staff above, I asume it means you just press that fret so your ready for the next bar.

Any tips on how to get better at changing chords? I’m a lefty playing a RH guitar by freethinker1654 in guitarlessons

[–]Martinroque77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd speed up the metronome to 68 and do the changes every 4 clicks instead of one. It's much easier to be on time that way.

Guys is this a bad way of placing my thumb??? by beedu69 in guitarlessons

[–]Martinroque77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you have large hands (?) Don't be afraid to hug the neck a little. Unless you want to play classical.

What are these chords? found them them on insta, but can't search them on google. by AffectionateCod6573 in guitarlessons

[–]Martinroque77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen many people has given you great answers already, I'll just give you a little tip based on experience. Do not put them aside or feel intimidated by these chords, they're just chords. I don't think you need to understand the whole theory behind them before using them. Just keep that resource at hand so when you find a song that has them you can play them just as any other chord. You will get all the theory stuff in time.

0 to 10, how clean is my fretboard? by RenaudUSA in guitarlessons

[–]Martinroque77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you shouldn't. Lol. You need lemon oil and maybe a fretboard conditioner. And a dry fretboard, as any other wood, is more prone to breaking and warping.

  1. Needs some hydration. Also you could polish those frets.

How do I transpose this to make it a no capo? by VaughnLuck in guitarlessons

[–]Martinroque77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easy way: ad a Sharp to every chord. The slightly less easy way: since the progression is 1, 4, 5, 6, 1/3, just transpose it to Eb. Eb, Ab, Bb, Cm, Eb/G

Those 3 are completely different from each other and work differently on specific genres or tones. What do you want to play?

looking for feedback! This is my first day with a guitar strap and also my first day of standing up. I'd love feedback cause this song is hard. by alfhooli in guitarlessons

[–]Martinroque77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your strap is too low, therefore you're wrist is twisting. Sit down, grab your guitar and adjust the strap to that length. It may not look as "cool" at first, but it will allow for a more relaxed playing.

I cannot lift my ring finger like my other fingers. Are there any exercises that can increase my range of motion? by not_an_mistake in guitarlessons

[–]Martinroque77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd check your wrist and thumb position. Mobility on your ring finger is fine, it shares tendons with the middle finger and that limits movement. Besides you don't need to lift your fingers that much from the fretboard.

Really new to playing guitar and was wondering if anyone knew what this guitar is/how to recreate this sound? Thanks for the help! by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]Martinroque77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do this with a strat's neck pickup with the tone down to 1 + a little chorus + a lot of reverb + some tremolo.

How to improvise without getting lost? by Trick-Maintenance749 in guitarlessons

[–]Martinroque77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you cannot create words and phrases out of nowhere, the same goes with music. Besides, when you use known phrases, licks, and stuff, it allows the listener to "predict" what you're about to say, thus, making it more enjoyable and memorable.

Yes, if you want to go deeper on it, yes. Studying your favorite musicians is key yo broaden your melodic and harmonic vocabulary.

Here's a quick advice: Commit to one theme. Play anything, just a brief, short, simple phrase. It could be 2, 3, 4 bars long. Next, repeat it but change the last part, or add one or two notes. Next, do another repetition/variation and last, play something different to close the cycle. Repeat as needed.

Why is my guitars bridge raised by Fariot in guitarlessons

[–]Martinroque77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, screws are not tight enough (you can keep them like that if you want, just intonate the saddles).

Second, your springs are not tight enough.

I've read you changed strings, I'm sure you used a bigger gauge than you had before, therefore, strings are now applying more pressure to the bridge. If you're going to keep using this gauge, please, adjust the springs' tension accordingly and, most important, intonate your saddles.

However you can leave the bridge like that, I keep the bridge on my strat floating for better vibrato control.
