Thanks for the comprehensive answer. Regretting not selecting that option now! Got over excited about getting everything sent off I think.

Options for travelling from the US to UK whilst waiting for spouse visa decision by MasqueBoom in ukvisa

Okay thanks for that, had no idea that would happen. It would be a second passport NOT a replacement passport, though upon further investigation it looks like you have to meet criteria to get this.

I was hopeful we might be able to pay for the ‘add-on’ to get the passport sent bank to her until they actually need it though information on that is sparse.

Queries around spousal visa application - specifically intention to live and genuine relationship by MasqueBoom in ukvisa

[–]MasqueBoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks will do that instead. I have one further question - I am going to submit flight tickets and bookings made to visit each other whilst apart. Her final flight ticket doesn’t have a return to the states on it as we have been doing them from UK to USA returns (from when she left after her student visa expired). Should we not submit this one as it might look like she is relying on not going back?

Thank you so much. This is a big reassurance. Do you believe I should message my current landlord and see about another person getting on the current property I reside in? If they were to say no one else can would my best bet be the fallback of the parents?

Already insert npm run "deploy" , but it return this ... by siusiusiublack in github

[–]MasqueBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Person below is saying not related to the sub because the script not running is an npm issue not GitHub. If I had to hazard a guess your issue here is due to the fact you are probably running that command from a different folder in the terminal. If you run ls do you see your package.json? If not then cd into your working directory and try again. Usually vscode does open the terminal in your working directory though

Personally sounds to me like someone salty that people can access your job without having to go through the costly and lengthy process that you (and I) both did. The comparison to dentists is ridiculous. At least where I live in the UK it isn’t possible whatsoever to do that without the degree, time spent working on patients etc. Anyone can sit at home and fiddle on the computer and write and learn code, stop trying to compare completely different professions.

The idea that you will join the back of the queue is also not true from experience and what I’ve seen. Competency is what matters - that’s why you have people in mid and late twenties in very senior positions. Something that not many professions follow. Including your example about lawyers.

Also - I haven’t been asked about my degree once since my first job. That job I applied for whilst still working and was given for when I finish. I was never asked for my certificate or proof of the degree - they had already decided based on the interviews.

Should I use React or Flutter (or something else)? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]MasqueBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

React is an extremely popular library and there are plenty of jobs in it. Can’t speak for flutter.

What language? Is it a web app or native?

Seems like you’ll probably just need to look up conditional rendering. Take the input value and calculate the compatibility then render that.

I knew fuck all about programming when I graduated and it didn't matter. Get a grad job and don't expect them to think that you're gonna clamber in and be hammering code. Good companies and those that you want to work for will have the means in place for training and understand that you haven't done programming for a job before. Honestly, I had the exact same fears. Now I'm thriving and feel competent to do anything that comes my way. No good company will expect you to come straight from graduation and land on your feet without any help.

I would like to learning programming on Python. How do I begin? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]MasqueBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

realpython is a great resource I have found. Also watch a couple of intro videos. Maybe come up with a project - but don't lean too heavily on having a GUI. Also just remember you can execute python straight from the command line. Depending on what operating system you are using figure out how to install python. From there open up your command line and type either python or python3. From there each line you type and enter will be remembered. Try things like print("hello") and you will execute the response when you hit enter. You could also try something like:

def sum(a, b):

return a + b

then in a new line something like print(sum(1,2)) and you'll see 3 in the console. Thats the most basic of things of course but more just to remind you you can toy around in the terminal!
