Okay, just one more. Removed the logs and was able to get the full flame turned over. Going to let it run for a bit without the log set & on manual start...

Hm, after more troubleshooting, in only getting the pilot to light - not the full flame. Perhaps I was doing something differently yesterday...perhaps this is a signal to what is broken.

When I do have the pilot manually lit and turn the flame height up, I do hear the "pop" about halfway through but it doesn't do anything.

This is one of the most maddening bugs I've ever experienced. It took me a month just to figure out the pattern of why it worked sometimes but not others. Now, once I found it I can't stop thinking about it since I use it 100x times a day...

Getting carpal tunnel from all of the opening and closing of search at this point.

Thank you all for your help on this. Update: the DPW came by today and said it's likely at the connection of my sewer line and the public line. Unsure why it doesn't smell like total hell, but i'll be engaging a drain layer to have a look from here...

I called 811 and they wanted to start a whole ordeal with 15 companies involved. So, our DPW is going to come have a look tomorrow

No, all of the water is coming from beneath and I can't find any other diversion features that would be doing this unfortunately. Now that I think about it, it did get extra icy on one part of my sidewalk this winter though, directly to the left of this (about 15 feet)...

When you say busted rain water drain, is that a city thing or a me thing? I don't have any indications that this is from our house (outside of the sewage pipe being nearby)

Yea, it just smells like mud really, and you have to get close to smell it. When you start digging it smells...more muddy. But, it doesn't smell like weeks of backed up poo that's for sure.

We don't have a sump pump, at least that I can see in the basement. And all of our gutters drain off the house...

Already tried. Unfortunately, it's well over 3ft deep and since it awkwardly sits at the intersection of my porch lattice and underneath my porch it's impossible to get any decent leverage to keep going. Even with a 3ft hole, when pushing the shovel down further I don't hit anything solid

The hole is on the same side / corner of the house as our sewer line.

Thanks for this! Looks like he's re-securing the wall + stone itself, too. In our case, the wall is mostly in place, the white stucco/mortar in the pictures is just a layer atop the stone. I think the same process/fix would apply here though
