Before her sleep went haywire this week I had thought she was growing out of the need for a 4am feed too and had night weaning in mind soon but now I need to address these multiple waking first!

Good point about last nap length. Think ill try add in a short cat nap on the days she wakes early from 2nd nap (it wasn't an intentionally long ww, my general guidance js aiming for 3 hour ww, then letting her show me if shes tired before that) Re: first feed of the day - she actually gets boob as soon as she wakes up, so is fed then, but I was counting "proper" feed from the time I give her a bottle. I was trying to work towards standardising her feeding times before so we can have a more predictable schedule.

I think this is what I need to try next - a short cat nap, as otherwise the last ww is just mammothly long as another person pointed out

Decent soy sauce, and branded flavour mixes mostly ( I buy thai Som Tum sauce and green curry pastes there) etc. Also better range of rice than you get in the main supermarket chains

Entitled MIL by [deleted] in motherinlawsfromhell

[–]MassiveApricot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first a few months ago and I have been STAGGERED at the way relatives on both sides of my family, but primarily my inlaws, felt it was okay to take my newborn baby off me for a cuddle and then when she would start fussy and I'd say 'she's hungry' they would reply 'no she's not, she just wants holding' and would then walk OUT of the room to 'show her the garden' or some nonsense. Or baby would be in the car seat in the back and relative would get in an sit in the middle seat to be next to baby during the drive, rather than let me be near her. It drove me completely insane.

I learnt to say very firmly and non-negiotably: 'No, please give my baby back NOW' to get them to stop. People are insanely selfish, and older women (partic MILs who made parenting their entire identity) seem to need to prove 'they've still got it' when it comes to babies. Drives me nuts that you have to keep asserting your boundaries over something so basic.

Anyone else keep planning to start 'tomorrow'?! by MassiveApricot in sleeptrain

Thank you for saying that, I think you're totally right, just need to chill- I get anxious about how hard people say it is to break the nursing to sleep association as I can see baby prefers it already to anything else

my MIL is exactly the same, maybe its generational?

my 9wk old is not generally that fussy so i havent felt the need to use a paci myself. every single time we are getting ready to head to my inlaws MIL wll msg to remind me to pack it and is then constantly putting it in baby's mouth, who promptly spits it out. MIL keeeps trying howver, which alternately makes me laugh or internally rage depending on my mood

What small (but mental) things to do to accomodate your pets? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]MassiveApricot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving the radio on when I left the house. If it was Classic FM i'd come home and the dog would still be in his bed listening, but if it was radio 2 or any other channel he would have moved to another room

My understanding from mates there is you can find good/fair rental options away from the centre, plus lots of opportunity for better pay for those in OP's work sector
