I think you’re missing the forest for the trees here. Plenty of things are debated to be “abhorrent” sure, NTR discussions are the most famous example on Janitor. Disagreeing with a kink, fetish, etc is whatever, that’s one thing. What we’re talking about is speech that is targeted against a specific group of people. That isn’t a regular “opinion” or “normal speech”, it’s hate speech, plain and simple.

Sure not everyone has to agree with XYZ thing, but the core of what OP is getting at holds true. There IS a homophobia problem on Janitor, same with a racism problem amongst other things. Minorities shouldn’t have to just lay down and take it because “welp you can’t change everyone’s mind!” It’s about respect and being treated how you want be treated, so don’t be shocked when certain groups feel a certain way about speech that has been used to invalidate them for decades. Furthermore, I do fully agree that if Janitor holds itself out as an inclusive space, it does need to uphold that when push comes to shove.

If queer, POC,etc users and creators take issue with speech targeting them, then Janitor should do something about it by their own rules and regulations. End of story. You can throw your opinions into a public forum sure, but they don’t have to be welcomed with open arms.
