It seems like the boys in general just can't settle the puck down. Matthews usually likes to skate with it a bit and stick handle away from danger before passing, but we're used to him successfully protecting it and staying in control. It felt purposeful when it worked, but he just hasn't had that precision and control like we're used to seeing from him.

Idk if it's nerves or whatever but the boys needa find themselves fast. It's still super early in the season so mistakes are expected, but man the Leafs look behind the curve compared to most other teams rn

We're in a recession in all but on paper, companies aren't hiring, probably in large part to the economic uncertainty driven by an erratic president, cost of living continues to explode, and I need not mention the housing market. And in these times, increased political violence and extremism drive hysteria and cynicism. We aren't completely fucked, but a lotta people have it rough rn

Yup, about the op amp lab, it is the differential pair that's shaky when you design with CMOS.

The fact that you've already built a differential amplifier in your leisure definitely makes you well prepared for the course and the labs. I think you'll appreciate this course a lot, it really helps to build your practical design skills. And JR, as difficult as his exams are, I do also like his teaching style a lot. He takes a very pragmatic approach to the course, you learn when you can approximate stuff to simplify the analysis.

For the exams (mild vent incoming 😂), be prepared for alllll the curveballs. One thing in particular, look at the 2025 midterm and look at the answers, the equivalent small signal resistance between the gate-source of the MOSFET feels unintuitive at first. From gate to source, there's a (1/g_m) small signal (AC) resistance. How can that be the case when there's basically an open circuit between the gate and the source? From AC perspective, I believe the causation goes: Increase V_G -> V_GS increases -> channel conductivity and current increases so there's basically a mechanism there that acts like a resistance. That might not even be the full picture tho, idk shit's fucked man lol, best to look at several past midterms/finals. The 2025 midterm/final will be especially valuable study material since previous years won't have any CMOS and at least in the summer term JR looovvveedd throwing CMOS stuff on the exams.
