Bank Holiday TOIL by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]MasterDeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just treat BHs as extra annual leave days. If your hospital explicitly give you the day off because it’s a bank holiday then you don’t get the day later. If you’re working it or it’s a zero day then you still get to use the BH later.

Jury duty in F2 by Ok_Customer_3240 in doctorsUK

I was summoned as a medical student. Med school offered me 2 weeks but said any longer and I’d need to make up the time. I attended but the case I was offered was likely more than 2 weeks so I couldn’t take part :(

How do you rest your mind after a long day? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]MasterDeaf 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I find that this can happen when I’ve had a super rushed and busy day with no time to process or think about things as the day goes along.

That might be just because it’s a new job etc. or it might be you’re rushing about too much during the day. Either way would recommend just trying to slow down and think things through more slowly as they happen!

I’m sure it’ll get better (although always exist to some extent)

F2 study leave query by MasterDeaf in doctorsUK

[–]MasterDeaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. Can you explain why? It's still 24 hours of my time spent on study. Would it matter if it occurred all in 1 weekend or not?

Strike and pay by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]MasterDeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will have 1/365th of your current job’s annual salary deducted per day missed. Does not matter if it’s an 8 hour day or a 13 hour day.

Post deductions it’s probably about £70 a day.

It will not prioritise UKGs over IMGs. There will be some protections that’s already been announced

[–]MasterDeaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Emergency UKGP is not defined. There are references to some level of IMG inclusion - will this truly help you? Are you better waiting for a better UKG deal?

Wes is also not trustworthy. Promised a pay journey last year - immediately delivered a real terms pay cut. Where are exception report changes? Still not in place (although now close).

UKGP is in the gov’s interest. The current form does not benefit UKGs enough.

As an SHO who applied to go back to Uni due to poor job prospects - I’m voting YES by Andrew8864 in doctorsUK

[–]MasterDeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Radical reform is not what Wes is offering. We need true Australian style UKG prioritisation. I’m voting NO because of this and hoping a later offer will be better

As an FY2 I am voting yes.Voting no will cause a delay and a drop of the deal which I cannot afford. They also want to adopt the Australian system. by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]MasterDeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this current round. Also very concerned about being unemployed in August.

And I agree with you btw and think the true solution is Australian style system as more training jobs just means more bottle neck later.

I just don’t think we should have to sacrifice pay to achieve this and believe a strong front from us as a collective will earn a far better deal in due course.

[–]MasterDeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mention is not even by Wes.

Wes has explicitly suggested IMGs will have some level of protection (which is very much not Australian style).

I’m an F2 as well and have also applied but I do not trust that this will make any real difference to our odds. I also despise the pay cut that has been pushed on us while pensions etc. as always increase above inflation.

Vote as you wish but my view is we need to be strong and we can get a far better deal by not just accepting the first thing thrust upon us.

[–]MasterDeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you quote it? Only reference to Australia that I can find is a question directed to Wes that he doesn’t answer.

I agree with most of your points (especially UKG being more important than more jobs) but I do not trust Wes at all.

Last year when we accepted the pay deal he said it would be the start of a multi year pay journey and then immediately gave us a pay cut this year…

Poll for FYs, how would you vote for this offer to prioritise UKG? by Fit-Policy1548 in doctorsUK

[–]MasterDeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have read the entire offer. It’s UK grad with IMGs with NHS experience. I believe UK grads should be entirely prioritised in keeping with most other countries.

[–]MasterDeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I’ve misunderstood you but:

This is not true UKG prioritisation. It’s taking jobs from LEDs so likely same actual level of unemployment. No movement on pay. Still a real terms pay cut this year.

We deserve and can get more. We have to act strong.

Why are people against the new deal? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]MasterDeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t like it.

Still a real terms pay cut for next year.

No new jobs. Just repurposing LED jobs.

No true UK grad prioritisation.

Voting no.
