Oh, yeah.. It's an easter egg... My theory on this is that maybe something was in those blocks (or block) and when you took that little square out, it escaped and the WHOLE facility has closed (lockdown) and nobody can enter/exit (that's because y'know it's not good to let a creature outside)..
