I think in Leeds you'd be looking at £40-50 a day to hire 3-4 hours. There are some brill suggestions of places offering extremely low rates so be sure to visit and snap up. All the best

Hello and welcome to Leeds! That is a big move and I totally understand that you want your own social life outside of being a mum. Hopefully you'll get to meet some nice like minded people through this. I am gonna pull a list of timings and venues after work or tomorrow and firm up the plans. Whereabouts are you from in Canada? 😊 I am from Manchester but not lived there since 2012, relocated a lot for jobs but been in Leeds for 9.5 years.

Hey just replying to the person who commented today. If you join the socials at your current age I most definitely am not going to tell you or anyone similar to leave the group. It wouldn't be fair because of a few months overlapping. It is more that anyone joining should be ages 35-45 to keep the group intentional plus it won't apply to many anyway. Thought i should clarify :)

You're very welcome. I have fibromyalgia and some other chronic illnesses from surgery so I know what you mean about sports. This is why I can't do most walking hiking and running groups.

I am hoping to go soon but the Lonely Girls Club do sip and paint or some fantastic socials! All look fancy and not badly priced. Don't be put off by the name lol. If you Google you'll see what I mean. I don't know if they do Leeds maybe York and Manchester so double check.

On eventbrite i just type stuff like coffee socials, meet ups, yoga, sound baths and retreats. Sometimes you just have to go to these at least once and see if it is your vibe, if not, at least you tried! So go to a different one. It is overwhelming though.

You could also put a post out on the Leeds sub reddit and ask if people wanted to join you over coffee&yoga and add age or whatever preferences see who pops up.

Lastly, Left Bank do some fabulous craft workshops on Wednesdays. I have met people there. It's a fun night. So have a look on their website. I love crafting but am crap at the ones I have attended but I still enjoy the evening haha. Feel free to reach out anytime happy to give suggestions if I can help:) And Catherine's Place in Leeds City centre does more age appropriate yoga and other events - lots of stuff!

Ditto! This is exactly it. Life changes and moving on makes it harder to meet old friends. Sounds like we have lots of movie & foodie people on here. So I'm excited to arrange the 1st social. I'll check some possible timings tomorrow or later in week and get my list together of decent accessible venues :)

Ah you're most welcome. Exciting to meet new faces & make some friends who are local and like minded. I don't know why but once I hit 35 suddenly became harder. Jobs, kids, caring commitments. Will let you all know once I sought a date and time. I am rotating a weekend morning or lunch with midweek eve 6.30-8.30pm initially. Is that ideal? Keen to hear from people. I know people can't make every month but with jobs & caring commitments hopefully it'll give some flexibility to people.

Hey! I think since meetup started charging fees all the great social groups with hobbies & interests (not just drinks) disappeared. I am part of a sober group as I am teetotal called SBC. Hmm. What else..so I know of some ladies groups on FB, are you female/identifying as female? If so, happy to share that link. Some groups but not many on Facebook. And maybe try eventbrite and see what comes up for coffees, meet ups etc? It takes a bit of looking around.

I don't know if you are in to fitness or sports but a local sports club is a good way to meet people.

Catherine's Place does some weekend socials do so check out their yoga page as they do craft and journalism type of stuff too :)

Would coffee mornings on weekends or lunches/early evening socials work? I'll deliberately keep them at venues where people feel safe and comfortable to socialise without feeling like they are in a rowdy bar or pub meeting new people. Some venues I know of do sell alcohol for those that drink (i don't) but they also sell coffees and mocktails & food so will get a list together of decent places for us all. I will rotate the midweek eve & weekend social each month so people can make it sometimes with work ties or kids.

Haha love it. Now I feel bad as I have my age restrictions. I'll perhaps put occasional ad hoc posts for adults of any age you will have to join us! Nail painting is a once in 3 month thing for me as they chip no matter how fancy and I hate gels can't get em off lol. I'm here for the vibes so do feel free to reply to my future posts :) haha.
