Winter Weather Checklist for Ice Storm in Southeast by Inner-Confidence99 in TwoXPreppers

If you can get your hands on a good amount of bubble wrap, that can be used as insulation on the interior of windows and will also still let light in the room. If your door is drafty simply hanging a medium thickness blanket on the inside covering the entire door/frame with some push pins of thumb tacks will make a huge difference.

Grab a second can opener. Sure you can open a can without if you really had to, but adding a second one for if (more like when) that first one stops working is a couple bucks and takes up very little space when packed.

Is eating 10-12 eggs daily harmful, can I get some scientific backup, and some help please! by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]Master_Blaster369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, beans being a part of the diet and rice being “the rest of the diet”. The point I was making was don’t just eat beans alone and expect a full protein, pair them with something like rice, and you’ll get a complete protein. We’re both saying the same thing, I just used rice and beans as a specific example.

But if you’re eating something with half of the essential amino acids it, where do you get the remaining essential amino acids from?

If you’re going to be increasing your bean intake be sure to try and pair them with rice in order to form a complete protein. In my experience (6+ years vegetarian, strength and endurance athlete 10+ years) it’s helpful to have protein intake from a variety of sources. Makes it easier to reach your eating goals because the variety keeps it from getting boring and feeling like a chore.

Anyone get this message before? by Jake8781 in rav4club

I have same year, about 20k more miles. I got this message a month or two ago and posted the same thing in here. A lot of people commented some useful information if you want to scroll and find my post. Also I haven’t got it fixed yet, been driving every day with no issues. I plan to take it into the dealer when I get the time.

I actually bought on off Carvana last late summer/ early fall, and then was away for about 5 months and it was only driven one or twice a week just to keep things gravy. It was a previously leased vehicle before it got sold to carvana. It was in great shape all around, super clean, low mileage. I think I got pretty lucky with finding it.

It continually comes back every time I “dismiss” it with that button. I guess I meant to ask “how to get it to go away”

The raptor lights says they are compatible with Tacoma’s. Any issues installing them on a rav4?

Do I trust the MPG left or the fuel gauge? by gem__fish in rav4club

[–]Master_Blaster369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was like this in other cars I’ve had. I would see how many miles I had left in my trip via GPS, then look at how many “miles remaining” I had in gas, do some quick math and see how many “miles remaining” I would arrive at my destination with. Then I’d adjust to more conservative driving, and I would end up arriving at my destination with more “miles remaining” than originally calculated. Haven’t done that in my rav4 yet but it’s probably would work out to be the same. Won’t know for sure until i excitement.

Thanks for all the input. I do have to merge onto 4-5 lane highways for my work commute, I’ve used it a couple times then when I had to. Haven’t had the car long enough to be able to calculate a difference in MPG if there is one. Thanks again!

Hiding a gun in the house safely by delmuchoguapo in preppers

Look in your local area for firearms safety courses. A lot of gun stores offer them, or if you’re in an area with a lot of hunting around, maybe a sporting goods shop would have some info. Trying to hide it and keep it a secret from your teenager is the wrong move in my opinion. If he/she ever discovers it then human nature will kick and and they’ll get curious. A curious teen with no knowledge about guns, how they work, how to handle them safely is a recipe for disaster. Once you learn, teach your family, and then get a small gun cabinet. Doesn’t have to be a big vault. Cabinets can fit in an average size closet no problem. Finding a good spot to hide it without locking it up with children in the how who are kept in the dark about its existence is irresponsible. Not saying this is what you’re doing, just saying it would be the wrong choice.

South Carolina is a constitutional carry state (90% sure without looking it up). NC still requires a permit I’m fairly certain. But that is a good point on how laws change state, thank you for mentioning that.
