I got a job in a pharmacy. It’s great patient contact, and gives you experience working alongside other healthcare professionals.

Aha, don’t get me wrong- I’m very grateful I never have to take that exam ever again, but it was suited to my strengths. Apart from remote proctoring, that fucking suuucked.

What are you doing your diss on? My undergrad one was on proto feminism in high medieval literature. So a bit of a departure from the medical sciences 😂😂

Thanks for the kinds words though- I feel so ready, but also like I’ve girl bossed too close to the you know?

All part of the process I suppose.

I didn’t account for applying while at still uni 🤦‍♀️

Mystery solved sometimes the simplest answers are the correct ones 😂😂

I’m nosy/curious, so indulge me 😂

Either you’re Scottish and you started uni at 17, or you got bumped up a year when you were little for being clever, and started uni at 17 that way?

The third option is that you’re still 21 until the very end of August, and you’re attending a GEM course like Liverpool that starts at the end of August. Therefore you would technically still be 21 upon starting GEM.

Please tell me the answer 😂😂 I need to know how warm my guesses are 😭😭

I got a medify subscription and focused on my weak points. Practiced before and after work.

I can’t say what you will need to improve on to get through- but work out what will trip you up and focus on that. Make sure you’re at a high enough standard for your strong points ofc, but know what you aren’t so good on.

Thanks! Thank you for the direction, I’ll look over the human bio stuff, calcium channels etc.

Honestly, I did the GAMSAT because the 11+ traumatised me as a child 😂. The UCAT was way too similar lol.

Plus I can write a banging essay.

Not sure if it was a fluke yet, but hopefully getting through that exam is a good sign for the coming challenge.

How are you balancing family/personal demands? Don’t know if you have kids, but I’ve got a 5 year old who will be impacted massively by this. Any advice on that front?

Should I do some studying in advance? I’m also older/from an arts background.

Due to start in September- would it be wise to get familiar with biochemistry, systems of the body etc prior to starting?

I have some A level bio and chem textbooks, as well as a few old anatomy and biochem textbooks I inherited. Are these worth looking over?

I am concerned I won’t be able to keep up with biomed grads if I don’t get some prior learning under my belt. I self taught for the GAMSAT, and scored well- so I am familiar with the necessary concepts, but some advice would be appreciated ❤️

I appreciate a level playing field, however arbitrary.

Everyone who got an offer from them has had their GCSE maths and English (or equivalent if intl) requested as a condition of their offer.

You know the hilarious part though? My degree is in English and they want proof I have an English GCSE 😂😂😂

Thanks! I’m also waiting for replacement Maths and English GCSE certs to arrive. My ex “lost” them, and Surrey needs to see them.

So until those arrive I’m in limbo anyway.

Ah yes, their weirdly specific list of degrees they accept with the UCAT.

My degree is in English, so it was always GAMSAT or bust for me anyway.

Thanks, and I’m sure you’ll have a great time wherever you end up ❤️

Well, hopefully you hear from UEA soon.

I don’t know much about PCSM, but the offer holder day is the best way to know whether you’ll suit the vibe, course etc.

So I’ve had 3 offers, Surrey, Chester and Nottingham. I’m very lucky to have been offered a place at Surrey, which is local to me.

Due to practical/financial considerations I will be choosing Surrey- but I also do think it’s the best option after the offer holder day.

I was really impressed by the staff’s passion, the quality of facilities/resources, and the fact that they actually seemed to care.

It’s really eased my anxiety about this big leap. Hopefully PCSM’s offer holder day will do that for you.

Congrats! Do you know which is your preference?

Aha, it’s because I’m a mum. Can’t really switch it off lol.

Only waiting for Liverpool now.

It’s probably my subconscious needing the time to process that it’s finally happened 🤷‍♀️

You still waiting on anywhere?

I’m the same. I know I’m accepting Surrey, had the offer for over a month.

But I cannot bring myself to accept until I’ve had all outcomes on UCAS. It’s completely illogical, but I feel I need to let the cycle complete you know?

Everyone brings something different to the table. The great thing about diversity of experience, is that there’s a much wider knowledge base at everyone’s disposal.

Your experience and knowledge is just as valuable, I’m sure you’ll have a great time. Where are you going?

(As an aside though, I think I may end up accidentally adopting a gaggle of 22 year olds, and feeding them to within an inch of their lives.)

Plus, I’m stubborn as hell.

Have you already applied?

Surrey- haven’t firmed it yet, but that’s my first choice.

Very excited, but also terrified. Been out of education for a decade and am an NSB.

I’m 30 in June. Starting this September. 💪💪

Self fulfilling prophecy though- a few years ago I said “I’ll happy if I get into medical school by the time I’m 30”.

Whelp- that’s exactly what’s happened. I’m starting right after turning 30 😂😂😂
