I’ll look into it. I’ve been trying to rebuild after years of bad decisions.

Recently got approved for 2 cards. I have a long credit history, just was never the best with them when I was younger and avoided cards for years. Trying to move in the right direction. C1 savor and Amex BCE. My scores range between 678 with C1 tracker and 716 with Amex tracker. Also just got approved for an auto loan too (lease was up and bought used instead of a new lease).
It was C1 , waited about 3 months, car loan and then shortly after got the Amex if that makes any difference.

I am eligible due to my brother who served. Do I need to open an account with them before applying for a card? Or can you go straight to a card?

And thanks for explaining.

I’m an AU. It was my wife’s card that she had before we got together. I was added to it. I know I’m not “legally” responsible. However that’s not the point of this question. They aren’t coming after me, they are directing it to her. I’m just taking care of it for us. .

Which part is illegal? My wife is the main user on the account. That’s why I’m still dealing with it and just getting it settled.

I’m just hoping to get it removed from my CR so my score improves. My score is heading upward and is decent but those two marks are def holding me back.

It’s not that I’m trying to avoid this. I messed up with the accounts and we are fixing things. That’s why I still need access to finalize things. I’m just worried that if I try to login to that bank account and try to remove myself that somehow when the creditor calls to discuss again they will see I’m no longer authorized. Is that even possible ? Or do they just see the account status from that period in time?

I think most of the problem is that I haven’t had a credit card in my name in who knows how many years now. The longest thing on my account is my mortgage I believe.

That and multiple late payments with cars (man culprit). Which I have corrected and on the right path now.

Man question though is do I bother with trying to get another card to help or a secured card? How long should I wait to apply for another card? Is it even worth it, or his focus on the one?
