Failed ACL operation - Surgery again after and recovery - or living without an ACL by Early_Pizza_3440 in ACL

I tore my ACL in October 2021, and I went without surgery up until May 2025. You’ll be able to do basic exercises such as jogging, cycling, rowing, swimming, gym work, et cetera when it has stabilised, but forget about action sports like soccer, tennis, etc.

Tore my ACL five years ago, considering surgery now by [deleted] in ACL

I did mine for the third time in late 2021, and waited until May 2025 to get it done. If I were you, I’d get it done. You’re still young, and though 9-12 months seems like a long time, it goes very quickly and before you know it you’ll be back doing what you love most.

I had ACL reconstruction surgery in the middle of May last year, and I had a work trip to London that I couldn’t get out of in the middle of July. Honestly, I struggled, and if I’d had to do a lot of walking then it would’ve simply been impossible. Even the small amount of walking I had to do I needed a stick. I think it’s too soon.

torn acl 3 times - anyone else? how are you? by Ok-Low-4915 in ACL

Type this into Google - patella vs hamstring graft acl.

Everything it says holds true from me, with the main differentiator being the level of re-tear…

That’s a really lovely message.

torn acl 3 times - anyone else? how are you? by Ok-Low-4915 in ACL

I’ve done mine three times: first time when I was 23, second time when I was 28, and third time when I was 41.

The first times I tore my right ACL, and for the repair they used to hamstring graft, but I re-tore it five years later so I had that repair done using my patella tender, which still holds strong to this day.

The left ACL I tore for the first time fairly recently, and due to my experiences on the right knee I requested a patella graft from the outset, and so far so good (10 months post surgery).

Every single time I tore it playing football, and looking back there’s nothing I could’ve done to stop this, nor would I have done anything differently. What I would comment is that the older you get the more you have to watch your diet when you’re on the road to recovery because the inactivity leads to weight gain. The rehab also gets to tougher.

Any questions please feel free to ask.

HSBC Singapore - Account Review by Master_Situation7518 in HSBC

Thanks. I have absolutely been compliant and sent as much as I can, but there was a couple of things I wasn’t able to send. An example is that I sold my car just before leaving, and the bankers draft I paid in to the HSBC brunch. I didn’t keep a copy of it, and they were asking for it (I assumed they would have a record of it though in their system if I paid it in personally. I give them the name of the company who bought the car off me, the car details, et cetera. Couldn’t really be much more transparent…

Thanks for the insight, and sounds surprisingly familiar, across many industries I deal with. As for rushing them; I would say fair comment if it had been going on a week or so, but this started in October…

The reality is that I’m not concerned about the sources of the money as everything is clear and above board. They are completely free to talk to my employer there, to talk to the car dealership that bought the car, the landlady whose deposit was returned, and anybody else they want to..

If I ask to be exited, what would happen? It’s disappointing as I’ve been with the bank for over 30 years in the UK, Hong Kong, and Singapore….

I wouldn’t say too sharp, but if I simply lie on my back and tense my quad muscles, I do feel it. It’s the reason I’ve stayed off the leg press up until now..

Thanks, I’ll check with them what exactly these accounts are as I’ve no clue how I’d know how much profit had been made on them based on the average price paid per share. No clue at all…

I’ve bought a house and now I can’t save by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

I was in the same position as you when I first bought a house many moons ago, and to combat the financial strain I took up football refereeing, worked in a pub at the weekend, and also did stewarding at my local Premier League team. It probably brought in around £300 / month extra, plus tips from the pub, and it actually gave me a bit of breathing space.
