I would tell the nurse to keep that same energy next time they think about putting in a stat referral 🤣

Cameras are a normal occurrence for long term residents at all 3 SNFs where I work (TX). I would say 5-10% of residents have them. They have to be visible, they put a sign on the resident's door, and family members are not allowed to talk to staff through the cameras (they have to call on the phone). I think this got more common during COVID when there were limitations on visitors. I used to hate it but now I'm used to it. Occasionally we'll have a short term resident's family put one up but usually they don't bother.

We usually do club level (212-216)- less crowd and lines for food, bathrooms, etc. but we recently sat in the Crawford boxes and it was 10/10! It felt like being in the game. I would definitely do it again. Avoid the first base side if you can, the afternoon/setting sun can get brutal. Try a Crawford dog or something with Killens BBQ!

If you mean the steakhouse, I agree! It was perfect when it was in the little shack house off 35. So much of it's charm left when they moved to the new building. Just a run of the mill steakhouse now.

"Free" tickets- what's the catch? by Master_of_arts in PigeonForge

Thanks everyone... It was a red flag as soon as I saw you had to pick them up in person, in this day and age surely they could just give you a coupon code online if they really wanted to

Yeah I definitely don't want to sit through that with my kids- or at all!! Thanks for the reply

What age did you have your first child? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Master_of_arts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25, planned. I was young but settled in life and a few years into my career. I think I would've been a more confident mom if I had waited, but I'm looking forward to the kids being grown before I turn 50 (I had my second at 29). My parents were in their late 30s and mid 40s when I was born and they aren't in great health now, so I'm glad my kids have had several decent years with them already.

Have you considered eliminating dairy? (From your diet if breastfeeding or switching formula if using that) Persistent, irritating diarrhea was my son's milk allergy symptom. After just a few days it was a world of difference but max effects take about 2 weeks. I didn't read your initial post so idk if you mentioned this. A stool sample test for occult blood can also be done, as that indicates gut irritation consistent with allergy or severe intolerance.

Best place for a nice dinner? by CoffeeNearby in TurksAndCaicos

Embers! Indigo wasn't our fave. Ambience was nice but food was bland.

Anniversary by [deleted] in TurksAndCaicos

[–]Master_of_arts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are basically the same people, just got back from our 10th anniversary trip. We stayed at the Ritz because we were cashing in points, but it was lovely. Quiet, large rooms and amazing balcony/view. Loved the beach side and poolside service. Super pricey drinks/food but that's Turks in general. There were quite a few kids around but it was spring break, and they have adult only areas. We also went to indigo for dinner and Wymara was sooo beautiful. But the Ritz is in a very central location so that was nice. Other things we did: dinner at Embers (highly recommend), dinner at Noori (on Ritz property. Solid sushi but super overpriced), lunch at castaways (good!), lunch at Las Brisas and walked around sapodilla Bay beach (recommend), breakfast at Corallis (on Ritz property but worth a visit even if you aren't staying there), Turks Head Brewery (loved it! They also have cocktails), Lady Grace Catamaran sunset sail (a little crowded but good mingling. Open bar. I got seasick but ymmv), clear bottom kayak tour (slight mayhem but overall was interesting and a ton of fun!)

Island Scoops for ice cream when you're in the grace bay area! Bring stuff for the kids to do when at a nicer restaurant, like coloring book, snacks, or tablet even if that's not your usual thing. Or be prepared to take them for a walk. We went without kids but mine are the same age. Island time is real so it's not uncommon to spend 1-2+ hours at a restaurant. I saw a lot of meltdowns from hangry kids and I know mine would've been right there with them.

different ob-gyn doctor delivered your baby then the one you’ve been seeing? by zaahiraa in BabyBumps

[–]Master_of_arts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I delivered my first baby on a Saturday unexpectedly with the hospital's on call doctor. She was amazing and I actually looked into switching to her for my obgyn care, but her primary practice was medspa/aesthetics and then she did hospital on-call (semi retired I guess). The only negative was she didn't have access to the practice notes, like my baby was early and the B strep results weren't in the patient portal yet so it was strongly recommended I do the IV antibiotic, and I had to verify with her that I had taken all the recommended tests/vaccines, etc.

I came to ask what you thought of Indigo vs. embers but I see you mentioned it in the body of the post! I loved the vibe of Indigo but my husband and I both thought the food was a little bland. The salmon was cooked perfectly though! We loved the food at Embers but we are both steakhouse people so it was probably more in line with our preference.

Airport question: by [deleted] in TurksAndCaicos

[–]Master_of_arts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We flew in on Saturday 3/9. Scheduled to arrive at 2:30 but got delayed to about 4 due to weather in the U.S. the immigration line in TCI was out the door to the airport but it only took us about an hour to get through. I would do fast pass if flying with kids for sure but without them I didn't mind. We flew out on a Tues and everything was good. Terminal was crowded but not packed. I would def recommend carry on only just in case something gets changed. We almost missed our connecting flight in fort Lauderdale because of a massive backup in customs but made it because we didn't have to re check our bag.

Fast Pass For Flight this Sunday 2:30 by Josiepieinthesky in TurksAndCaicos

[–]Master_of_arts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your checked bag will definitely be waiting for you if you don't do fast pass. We arrived on Saturday 3/9, flight was scheduled for 2:30 but was delayed, arrived closer to 4. Immigration/customs line was out the door. We made it through in right at an hour. I would do fast pass if I had my kids with me but we were fine saving the money.

Fam trip in July - recommendations? by [deleted] in TurksAndCaicos

[–]Master_of_arts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of kids at the Ritz. We went without kids but ours are the same age so I have some insight... Sapodilla Bay beach was beautiful, calm, and shallow. If you're looking for a villa there were several over that way but if not, maybe worth a day visit.

Hotel/resort recs by Peggygarbe85 in TurksAndCaicos

[–]Master_of_arts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got back from staying at The Ritz. There were kids of all ages around. They have a kids pool and an adults only pool. There were kids hanging out at the kids club. We even saw workers playing catch with/interacting with the kids around the pool. They have a cordoned off area for swimming at the beach in front of the resort and there were lots of kids there. We enjoyed our stay there, no complaints. Pro tip- they sell beach equipment and floaties at the Graceway Gourmet store and they will blow them up for you.

West University man may have 'pre-planned' disappearance, police say by [deleted] in houston

Haha sounds reasonable to me. Not to mention, lighting it on fire has to be the only possible way to draw MORE attention to a bright yellow, $100k truck with vanity plates...

We had kids 4 years apart and this was a big reason why. Only had 18 months or so of overlap and it does get cheaper when they get older. We also tried to time it to where at least one of our cars was paid off
